Will of Margaret Finn
I Margaret Finn of Spaniards Bay District of Harbour Grace in the island of Newfoundland (widow) being of sound and disposing mind and memory hereby revoke all former wills and testamentary dispositions made by me and declare this to be my last will and testament. I devise and bequeath and expressly direct that all my earthly goods and property of every description whatsoever of which I may die possessed be disposed of in the following manner That is to say that all my land with dwelling house and furniture which I now occupy and all other buildings erected thereon be bequeathed to my son Thomas Finn provided that during my natural life time that he my son Thomas Finn do provide and maintain me and after my decease to give me a decent respectable and Christian burial. That all moneys held for me and deposited with the Right Reverend John March D.D. Bishop of the diocese of Harbour Grace be bequeathed to the following beneficiaries as named in this will.
(Listed in the margin next to this will the following)
|Note: The wills in those will books are NOT actual wills. They are hand-written copies of a, "last will and testament," written by the court clerk, after the death of the testator, when the executor presented them to the court for probate. The court clerk didn't list the signatures at the bottom, he (or she) just put them in the book in whatever order they were in, on the original document, no spacing most of the time, no punctuation. The originals were kept by the executor. |
We who have typed these wills, have made every effort to include all the errors that were on the microfilm, in order to avoid destroying the integrity of the originals, where ever they may be.
