Will of Philip Farrell from Newfoundland will books volume 5 pages 299-302 probate year 1888.
This will is also recorded on pages 190-192 in this volume. The wills are similar, with only a few minor differences, and the comments of the registrar. In the other version the name was spelled Farrel all the way through, in this one it's spelled Farrell, and again, the registrar and his comments

Last will and Testament of the
late Philip Farrell of St. John's
Farmer deceased.

In the name of God Amen. I Philip Farrell of Boggy Hall Topsail Road St. John's Newfoundland Farmer being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding do make and ordain this as and for my last will and testament After the payment of my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses I give devise and bequeath to my executors hereinafter named all that Farm land houses and property on Topsail Road about nine miles from St. John's formerly known as Jenkins Farm and afterwards held by the late Michael Farrel deceased and at present occupied by my son Michael in trust to hold use and apply the rents issues and profits thereof to the sole use of my said son Michael subject to the condition that the said Michael shall not have power to sell or mortgage the same without the consent of my said executors and any such sale or mortgage by him without such consent shall be invalid and the said farm land houses and property shall thereupon be held and treated by my executors as residue of my estate

I give devise and bequeath to my executors hereinafter named all my farm lands houses barns and property on the Topsail Road in which I now reside and known collectively as the Boggy Hall property and all farming utensils and all and every kind and description of property thereon or used in connection therewith for farming or other purposes in connection with a farm horses cows (except one cow and a yearling hereinafter bequeathed to my son Michael) pigs and cattle of every description in trust to take use and apply the same to and for the uses and trusts following namely to hold the same in such manner that all my unmarried daughters Mary Farrell Margaret Farrell Ellen Farrell and Bridget Farrell and my youngest son James may live die and occupy the said Boggy Hall property which shall be worked by them under the direction management and control of my said executors hereinafter named until my said son James shall have attained the age of thirty years provided nevertheless that each and everyone of said daughters on her marriage shall cease to have right of residence on or claim to any part of said property, the provision I purpose making regarding them not being in restraint of marriage but to enable them to have a home and get a livelihood while unmarried.

On my said son James attaining the age of thirty years my said executors shall assign to him the said property subject to the right of any of my said daughters then unmarried to reside on and get her support out of the said property. In case my said son James shall die before the age of thirty years without child or children the said Boggy Hall property shall go to my said daughters or the survivors of them or their children if they have any It shall be lawful for my said executors hereinafter named to assist any of my daughters who may be married if in their opinion and judgment such assistance is required or should be advantageous but not so as to hamper the property by mortgage or otherwise I authorize my executors to give to my son Michael one cow and one heifer (referred to in preceding part of this will) whenever in their opinion and judgment they deem it right and they shall not be bound to give both at the one time It is my will that my children shall be obedient and listen to the counsel of my friends John Nash and John Holden in all matters and I hereby appoint them to be my executors
