Will of Joseph E. Elliott
from Newfoundland will books volume 10 pages 297-298 probate year 1915

In re
      JOSEPH E. ELLIOTT       deceased.

      I Joseph E. Elliott, of Change Islands, Nfld Fisherman, being of sound mind and memory, do make, publish and declare this my last will and testament in the manner following: That is to say,
1st, I give and bequeath to my son Dorman and my grandson William Joseph Elliott my dwelling house, situate on the Main Road to Fox Head Cove, together with all furniture and fixings therein contained, with the exception of two feather beds, which I give to my grandchildren Edmund and Frank Hines.    I also give to my son Dorman and grandson William Joseph Elliott all land in connection with the above named dwelling house.
      2nd. I give to my grandson, Joseph Elliott, my Motor Boat and Engine complete.
      3rd. I give and bequeath to my son Adolphus two-thirds of my schooner “Laura M.B.” and I leave the remaining one-third part of said Schooner to my stepson, Samuel Smart.     I also give to my son Adolphus and stepson, Samuel Smart, one Codtrap and fittings each.
4th. My Fishing Room, situate in North End Harbor, comprising dwelling house, stores, Wharfs and land, I give in three equal parts to my son Adolphus, and my two grandsons, Raymond Howard Elliott, and Joseph Elliott.
      5th. I give to my sons Dorman, Samuel and Adolphus, and to my brother Jonathan Elliott, one hundred dollars each in cash.
      6th. All other moneys found in my possession, or deposited in any Bank or elsewhere in my name, to be divided in Five and one half shares as follows: One share each to my daughters, Laura Jordan, Minne Victoria Rendell, Ettie Eliza Elliott, Lydia Seabrook, and my granddaughter Olive Hines, and one half share to my daughter Maud Tucker.    My daughter Bessie having already been provided for by a deposit in the Bank of Montreal. Deposit Book for the same can be found in my Cash Box.    My wife Eliza has also been provided for by a Cash deposit in the Bank in her own name, but should I die during the present season, it is my wish that my said wife Eliza shall have all the proceeds of my earnings for the present season.
      Lastly, I do hereby appoint John Elliott, North End, Change Islands, to be executor of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made.    In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty-forth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and thirteen.     Joseph E.
