TO WIT
I do swear that I believe that Michael Grubert, late of Harbor Grace aforesaid, Cooper, deceased, died with a Will; and that I will well and truly administer all and every the Goods of the said deceased and pay his debts so far as his Goods will extend; and that I will exhibit a true, full and perfect Inventory of the Goods of the deceased, and render a true account of my Administration into the Registry of the said Court within six months from the date hereof, or when I shall be thereunto lawfully required; and that the whole of the Goods, Rights, Chattels, Assets, Credits and Effects of the said deceased which he died possessed of, within the jurisdiction of this Court, do not, according to the best of my knowledge, judgment and belief, amount to the value of Three Hundred and Fifty dollars.

Be it Remembered, That on this twenty first day of January in the Forty-ninth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady VICTORIA, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith, &c, and in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty *five six personally appeared Johannah Grubert of Harbor Grace in the Northern District, Widow, Michael Keefe of the same place, Master Mariner, and John James Keefe of the same place, planter, and did acknowledge themselves to be held and firmly bound to our said Lady the Queen, her Heirs and Successors, in the penal Sum of Seven Hundred Dollars, to be had, made and levied on their Goods, Chattels and Effects, jointly and severally, if Default is made in any of the conditions following:--

NOW THE CONDITION OF THIS OBLIGATION IS SUCH, That if the above bounden Johannah Grubert as Administratrix *cum testamento annexo of the Estate and Effects of Michael Grubert late of  Harbor Grace, Northern District, Cooper, deceased, do make, or cause to be made, a just, true, and perfect Inventory of all and singular the Goods, Credits and Effects of the said deceased, which have or shall come to the hands, possession, or knowledge of her the said Johannah Grubert as such Administratrix *C.T.A. or to the hands or possession of any other person, or persons, for her and the same so made do exhibit, or cause to be exhibited, in the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, at or before the twenty first day of February *July next ensuing the date hereof; and the said Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects, and all other the Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects of the said deceased, at the time of his death, or which at any time afterwards shall come into the hands or possession of her the said Johannah Grubert or to the hands or possession of any other person or persons for her shall well and truly administer according to Law, and further shall make, or cause to be made, a just and true account of her said Administration, on or before the twenty first day of August*January which will be in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty Six*seven and afterwards from time to time as she shall be lawfully required. And all the rest, residue, and remainder of the said Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects, which shall be found remaining upon the said Administration Account, the same being examined and allowed by the said Supreme Court of Newfoundland, shall and do pay and dispose of in due course of Administration, or in such a manner as the said Court shall direct; then this obligation to be void and of no effect, or else to be and remain in full force and virtue.

The Petition of Johannah Grubert of Harbour Grace, Widow

Humbly Sheweth

          That Michael Grubert of Harbour Grace, Cooper, died at Harbour Grace aforesaid on the sixth day of May Anno Domini Eighteen hundred and eighty five leaving a Will which is hereunto annexed and which has been proven in due form.
          That the said Michael Grubert left him surviving your Petitioner his Widow but no children.
          That the said Michael Grubert left property of the probable value of three hundred dollars.
          Your Petitioner therefore prays that Letters of Adminisration cum testamento annexo to the Estate of the said deceased may be granted to her.
          And your Petitioner as in duty bound will ever pray &c.

          I, Michael Grubert of Harbour Grace in the Island of Newfoundland, in the full possession of my faculties and power of speech do make this my last Will and Testament and declare all others, that is Wills or deeds, Null and void.
          This house which I now live in together with all my goods and chattles (sic) properties appurtenances paths, passages of all description, I now bequeath to my Wife Johannah Grubert, together with power to sell, convey, transfer, mortgage or in any way she may think fit, to dispose of the aforesaid property at my death, for to act in her own right and to assert them by this my last Will and Testament as aforesaid.
          To have and to hold, forever, from this day forward, her heirs, executors, administrators and assigns.
          As witness my Seal and signature this day, Twenty fourth of March in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred and eighty five.
          Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of William Glyndon and _______________ as witness their signatures.

          William Glyndon of Harbour Grace, Accountant, maketh oath and saith that he was present and did see Michael Grubert of Harbour Grace aforesaid, Cooper, the Testator of the Will Annexed, duly sign the said paper writing as and for his last Will and Testament and in the presence of Michael Ryan, the other subscribing Witness thereto and that the said Michael Ryan and Deponent did then and there in the presence of the said Michael Grubert and at his request sign their names as subscribing witnesses to the said Last Will and Testament and that the said Michael Grubert was, at the time of signing the same, of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding.

day of May A.D. 1885.
