1929 Estate File Petition
for
Levi Simmonds

 

To the Honourable the Supreme Court or to One of the Honourable the Judges thereof.

The Petition of William Simmonds of St. John's.

HUMBLY SHEWETH, that,

  1. Levi Simmonds late of St. John's Blacksmith, deceased, died at that place on or about the 5th day of July 1924, intestate.

  2. The said deceased left him surviving as next of kin at the time of his death, Mary Simmonds, his widow, and the following children: Your Petitioner and Melina LeDrew at present residing in St. John's, and Sophia Lidston, Florence McKay, Kenneth Simmonds, Garfield Simmonds, Blanche Simmonds, Edith Towns and Heber Simmonds all residing outside the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court.

  3. The said deceased at the time of his death was possessed of property within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court of the probable value of $2400.00.

  4. The paper-writing hereto annexed marked "A" is a correct and true inventory and valuation of all the property and effects of the said deceased at the time of his death as far as Your Petitioner can at present ascertain the same.

  5. Neither Probate of any Will nor Letters of Administration of the estate of the said deceased have been applied for by or granted to any person.

Your Petitioner, therefore, prays that this Honourable Court or Your Lordship may be pleased to grant to him Letters of Administration of the estate of the said deceased.

And, Your Petitioner, as in duty bound will ever pray & c.
Dated at St. John's, this 16th day of July, A.D., 1929.
