TO THE HONOURABLE THE SUPREME COURT OF NEWFOUNDLAND OR ONE OF THE HONOURABLE THE JUDGES THEREOF.
The Petition of Adelaide Howell of St. John's in the Electoral District of St. John's East, Widow,

Humbly sheweth as follows:

  1.           Samuel E. Howell late of St. John's, Master Mariner died at St. John's on or about the 10th day of November A.D. 1924 having made no will.
  2.           The said deceased left him surviving as next of kin his lawful widow Adelaide Howell (Your Petitioner) and one son who is of the full age of twenty-one years namely, Dexter Howell of Halifax in the Province of Nova Scotia in the Dominion of Canada, Marine Engineer and no other next of kin.
  3.           The said deceased died possessed of property within the Jurisdiction of this Honourable Court of the value of $937.52 and no more.
  4.           The Inventory hereto annexed marked "A" contains a full and true inventory and valuation of the property and estate of the said deceased at the time of his death.
  5.           No Probate of any Will nor Letters of Administration of the Estate of the said deceased has been granted forth of this Honourable Court.

          Your Petitioner therefore prays that Letters of Administration of the Estate and effects of the said deceased be granted to her and Your Petitioner in duty bound will ever pray.
          Dated the 21st day of November A.D. 1924.

                                     MASTER MARINER,
                                                            DECEASED.

I, ADELAIDE HOWELL
of ST. JOHN'S, in the Electoral District of ST. JOHN'S EAST in the Island of Newfoundland, Widow, make oath and say, that
SAMUEL S. HOWELL
late of ST. JOHN'S in the Electoral District of ST. JOHN'S EAST in the Island aforesaid, Master Mariner deceased, died intestate; that I will well and faithfully administer the estate and effects of the said deceased, by paying HIS just debts and distributing the residue of HIS estate and effects, according to law; that I will exhibit a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the said estate and effects, and render a just and true account thereof whenever required by law so to do; that the said deceased died at ST. JOHN'S on the 10th day of NOVEMBER, one thousand  nine hundred and twenty-four; and that the gross value of the said estate and effects of the deceased is NINE HUNDRED AND THIRTY SEVEN DOLLARS           52/100 dollars and no more according to the best of my knowledge, information and belief.
