Note: Matthew Martin was the brother of Frederick Martin, my great grandfather. They were the two sons of Jonathan Martin and Elizabeth Tucker of Harbour Grace. Elizabeth was originally from Broad Cove. Matthew married Jane Maria Mercer. She was a daughter of Thomas and Prudence Mercer of Mercer's Cove. They had 11 children but unfortunately several died quite young. Not mentioned in the will are daughters Annie Bertha and Annie Eleanor Elesdale, and sons John Cooper Lewis, Frederick William and Thomas. Bertha Martin was the daughter who married Victor Parsons in Spaniard's Bay in 1898. She may have died around 1901/02. They had three children, Rose, Florence and Frederick. Victor was the son of Bernard and Eliza Green Parsons of Harbour Grace. Bernard and Eliza both died in 1919.
