In the Estate of Mary Coady DECEASED
I Walter A. Strapp of Harbor Grace in the Electoral district of Harbor Grace in the Island of Newfoundland, Medical Doctor, make oath and say that Mary Coady late of Harbor Grace in the said Electoral District in the Island aforesaid, Widow, deceased, died intestate; that I will well and truly administer the estate and effects, rights and credits of the said deceased and pay her just debts and distributing the residue of her estate and effects according to law; that I will exhibit a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the said estate and effects, rights and credits, and render a just and true account thereof whenever required by law so to do; that the said deceased died at Harbor Grace aforesaid on the 23rd day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty one; that at the time of her death, the said deceased had a fixed place of abode in the Island aforesaid; and, that the gross value of the said estate and effects, rights and credits of the said deceased is Two hundred dollars and no more, according to the best of my knowledge, information and belief.

The petition of Walter A. Strapp of Harbor Grace, Medical Doctor,

Humbly Sheweth as follows :-

  1. That Mary Coady late of Harbor Grace C.B. widow, deceased, died at that place on or about the 23rd day of April A.D. 1881, intestate.
  2. That she left her surviving four children viz: two sons; John and James Coady and two daughters: Mrs. Kehoe and Mrs. Thos. Griffin
  3. That James and John have since died at Harbor Grace, intestate, and were unmarried.
  4. That your petitioner is a creditor upon the estates and interests of both James and John Coady, aforesaid for the sums of $16.00 and $14.00, respectively, for medicines furnished and for medical services rendered.
  5. That the consent of the surviving next of kin to a grant of letters of administration to your petitioner is hereto annexed mrked "A".
  6. That no administration to any estate of said deceased has as yet been granted to any person.
  7. Your petitioner therefore humbly prays that letters of administration to the said estate of deceased may be granted to him.

          And as in duty bound he will ever pray &c

We John T. Lawton of Harbor Grace, aforesaid, School Teacher, and Maurice Fleming of same place, Planter, severally make oath and say:
That we are the proposed sureties on behalf of Walter A. Strapp, the intended administrator of all and singular the estate and effects, rights and credits, of Mary Coady deceased, in the within bond named, for the faithful administration of the said estate and effects, rights and credits, of the said deceased; and I the said John T. Lawton for myself make oath and say that I am worth property to the amount of Two hundred dollars, over and above all encumbrances and over and above what will pay my just debts, and every other sum for which I am now bail, or for which I am liable as surety or endorser or otherwise, and I the said Maurice Fleming for myself, make oath and say, that I am worth property to the amount of Two hundred dollars, over and above what will pay my just debts, and every other sum for which I am now bail and for which I am liable as surety or endorser or otherwise.

Know all Men by these Presents: That we Walter A. Strapp of Harbor Grace in the Electoral District of Harbor Grace, Medical Doctor, John T. Lawton, of the same place, School Teacher, and Maurice Fleming of the same place, Planter, and are jointly and severally bound unto our Sovereign Lord, Edward VII, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, &c, in the sum of Four hundred dollars, to be paid to our said Sovereign Lord, the King, His Heirs and Successors for which payment well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves and each of us for the whole, our and each of our executors and administrators, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals.

Dated the Sixth day of November in the year of our Lord 1901.

The Condition of this obligation is such that if the above named Walter S. Strapp as administrator of all the estate and effects, rights and credits of Mary Coady late of Harbor Grace in the Electoral District of Harbor Grace in the Island of Newfoundland, Widow, deceased, (who died on or about the 23rd day of April A.D. 1881) do, when lawfully called on in that behalf, make, or cause to be made, a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the estate and effects, rights and credits of the said deceased, which have or shall come into his hands, possession or knowledge, or into the hands or possession of any other person or persons for him and the same so made do exhibit, or cause to be exhibited, into the Registry of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, whenever required by law so to do, and the same estate and effects, rights and credits, and all other estate and effects, rights and credits of the said deceased at the time of her death which at any time after shall come into his hands or possession, or into the hands or possession of any other person or persons for him, do well and truly administer according to law, that is to say, do pay the debts which the said deceased did owe at her decease, and then the Legacies contained in the said Will annexed to the said Letters of Administration to the said committed, so far as such property will thereunder extend and the law bind and further, do make, or cause to be made, a full true and just account of administration within twelve months or sooner if the said Walter A. Strapp being thereunto required, and all the rest and residue of the property shall deliver and pay unto such person or persons as shall be by law entitled thereto; then this obligation to be void and of no effect, or else to remain in full force and virtue.
