In the Estate of Susanna Clift DECEASED
I Annie M. Dawe of Bay Roberts, in the Electoral district of Harbor Grace in the Island of Newfoundland, married woman, make oath and say that Susanna Clift late of Bay Roberts in the Electoral District of Harbor Grace in the Island aforesaid, deceased, died intestate; that I will well and truly administer the estate and effects, rights and credits of the said deceased and pay her debts, so far as her Goods will extend: and that I will exhibit a true, full and perfect Inventory of the said Goods of the deceased, and render a just and true account thereof whenever required by law so to do; that the said deceased died at Bay Roberts aforesaid on the 6th day of July One thousand nine hundred and that at the time of her death, the said deceased had a fixed place of abode in the Island aforesaid; and, that the gross value of the said estate and effects, rights and credits of the said deceased is Three thousand and four 91/100 dollars and no more, according to the best of my knowledge, information and belief.

Dawe.

The petition of Annie M. Dawe of Bay Roberts in the district of Harbor Grace, Wife of Azariah Dawe of the said place, Merchant, by her solicitor, Charles O'Neill Conroy

Humbly Sheweth that :-

  1. Susanna Clift, late of Bay Roberts in the district of Harbor Grace, widow, died at the said place on the 6th day of July A.D. 1900, intestate, leaving her surviving her only child, your petitioner.
  2. The inventory and valuation hereto annexed is, to the best of your petitioner's knowledge and belief, a just and true inventory and valuation of the property of the said deceased at the time of her death, so far as your petitioner can at present ascertain.
  3. No probate of any will nor letters of administration to the estate of the said Susanna Clift have been granted forth of your Honorable Court to anyone.
  4. Your petitioner therefore prays that your Honorable Court or your Lordship may be pleased to grant to her Letters of Administration to the estate of the said Susanna Clift, and as in duty bound will ever pray etc, etc.

Know all Men by these Presents: That I, Annie M. Dawe, of Bay Roberts in the Electoral District of Harbor Grace, Married woman, is bound unto our Lord Edward VII by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, &c, in the sum of Six thousand and ten dollars, to be paid to our said Sovereign Lord, the King, His Heirs and Successors for which payment well and truly to be made, I bind myself for the whole, executors and administrators, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals.

Dated the 15th day of February in the year of our Lord 1901.

The Condition of this obligation is such that if the above named Annie M. Dawe, as administratrix of all the estate and effects, rights and credits of Susanna Clift late of Bay Roberts in the Electoral District of Harbor Grace in the Island of Newfoundland deceased, (who died on or about the 6th day of July A.D. 1900) do, when lawfully called on in that behalf, make, or cause to be made, a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the estate and effects, rights and credits of the said deceased, which have or shall come into the hands, possession or knowledge of her the said Annie M. Dawe or into the hands or possession of any other person or persons for her and the same so made do exhibit, or cause to be exhibited, into the Registry of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, whenever required by law so to do, and the same estate and effects, rights and credits, and all other estate and effects, rights and credits of the said deceased at the time of her death which at any time after shall come into the hands or possession of her the said Annie M. Dawe or into the hands or possession of any other person or persons for her, do well and truly administer according to law, that is to say, do pay the debts which the said deceased did owe at her decease; and further, do make, or cause to be made, a just and true account of her said administration within twelve months from this date, or whenever required by law so to do, and all the rest and residue of the said estate and effects, rights and credits, do deliver and pay unto such person or persons respectively as shall be entitled thereto under any law now in force or that may hereafter be in force in Newfoundland; and if it shall hereafter appear that any last will and testament was made by the deceased and the executrix therein named do exhibit the same unto the said Court, making request to have it allowed and approved accordingly, if the said Annie M. Dawe being thereunto required, do render and deliver the said letters of administration (approbation of such testament being first had and made) in the said Court, then this obligation to be void and of no effect, or else to remain in full force and virtue.

We Edward Doyle of St. Johns, Clerk in the Office of the Colonial Secretary and Gilbert D. Shears of St. Johns, Commission Agent severally make oath and say:
That we are the proposed sureties on behalf of Annie M. Dawe, the intended administratrix of all and singular the estate and effects, rights and credits, of Susanna Clift deceased, for the faithful administration of the said estate and effects, rights and credits, of the said deceased; and I the said Edward Doyle for myself make oath and say that I am worth property to the amount of Three thousand and four 91/100 dollars, over and above all encumbrances and over and above what will pay my just debts, and every other sum for which I am now bail, or for which I am liable as surety or endorser or otherwise, and I the said Gilbert Shears for myself, make oath and say, that I am worth property to the amount of Three thousand and four 91/100 dollars, over and above what will pay my just debts, and every other sum for which I am now bail and for which I am liable as surety or endorser or otherwise.
