NEWFOUNDLAND
St. Johns To Wit:          I Peter St. Croix of Holyrood, St. Marys In the Southern District do swear that I believe that Bridget St. Croix late of Holyrood, aforesaid, Married woman, deceased, died without a Will; and that I will well and truly administer all and every the Goods of the said deceased and pay her debts, so far as her Goods will extend: and that I will exhibit a true, full and perfect Inventory of the said Goods of the deceased, and render a true account of my Administration into the Registry of the said Court, within six months from the date hereof, or when I shall be thereunto lawfully required; and that the whole of the Goods, Rights, Chattels, Assets, Credits and Effects of the said deceased of which she died possessed, within the jurisdiction of this Court, do not, according to the best of my knowledge, judgment and belief, amount to the value of Five hundred dollars.

So help me God

After three days application will be made to the Honorable Supreme Court or one of the Honorable Judges thereof for letters of administration to the Estate of the late Bridget St. Croix late of Holyrood In St. Marys Bay, Married Woman, deceased to be Granted to Peter St. Croix, widower of said deceased.

The petition of Peter St. Croix of Holyrood, St. Marys Bay, Planter

Humbly Sheweth as follows:

  1. That Bridget St. Croix late of Holyrood, aforesaid, Married woman, the wife of your petitioner, died at that place on or about the 16th day of October A.D. 1899, intestate.
  2. That she left her surviving her husband, your petitioner.
  3. That at the time of her decease, the said Bridget St. Croix was possessed of property of the probable value of five hundred dollars.
  4. That no probate to any will nor letters of administration to any estate of the said deceased has as yet been granted to any person.

          Your petitioner therefore prays that letters of administration to the estate of said deceased may be granted to him,
          And as in duty bound he will ever pray &c

In the Estate of Bridget St. Croix, late of St. Marys, deceased,
We, John Cowen of St. Johns, in the Central District of Newfoundland, Minister of Finance and Customs and Thomas Allan of St. Johns, General Dealer, in the Central District of Newfoundland severally make oath and say:
That we are the proposed sureties on behalf of the intended administrator of the property of Bridget St. Croix deceased, in the within bond named, for the faithful administration of the said estate and effects, rights and credits of the said deceased; and I the said John Cowen of St. Johns in the Central District make oath and say: that I am worth property to the amount of dollars, over and above all incumbrances and over and above what will pay my just debts, and every other sum for which I am now bail, or for which I am liable as surety or endorser or otherwise, and I the said Thomas J. Allan for myself make oath and say, that I reside at St. Johns and am worth property to the amount of One thousand dollars over and above what will pay my just debts and every other sum for which I am now bail or for which I am liable as surety or endorser or otherwise.

Be it Remembered That on this 12th day of May in the 63rd Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith, &c, and in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred personally appeared Peter St. Croix of Holyrood, St. Marys, Planter, John Cowan of St. Johns, Minister of Finance & Customs, and Thomas J. Allan, of St. Johns, General Dealer, and did acknowledge themselves to be held and firmly bound to our said Sovereign Lady the Queen, Her Heirs and Successors, in the penal Sum of one thousand dollars to be had, made and levied on their Goods, Chattels and Effects, jointly and severally, if Default is made in any of the conditions following :---

Now the Condition of this Obligation is such, that if the above bounden Peter St. Croix as Administrator of the Estate and Effects of Bridget St. Croix, late of Holyrood, aforesaid, Married woman, deceased, do make or cause to be made, a just, true, and perfect inventory of all and singular the Goods, Credits and Effects of the said deceased, which have or shall come to the hands, possession, or knowledge of him the said Peter St. Croix as such Administrator or to the hands or possession of any other person, or persons, for him and the same so made do exhibit, or cause to be exhibited, in the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, at or before the 12th day of November next ensuing the date hereof; and the said Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects, and all other the Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects of the said deceased, at the time of her death, or which at any time afterwards shall come into the hands or possession of him the said Peter St. Croix, or to the hands or possession of any other person or persons for him shall well and truly administer according to Law, and further shall make, or cause to be made, a just and true account of his said Administration, on or before the 12th day of May which will be in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand nine hundred and one, and afterwards from time to time as he shall be lawfully required. And all the rest, residue, and remainder of the said Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects, which shall be found remaining upon the said Administration Account, the same being examined and allowed by the said Supreme Court of Newfoundland, shall and do pay and dispose of in due course of Administration, or in such a manner as the said Court shall direct; then this obligation to be void and of no effect, or else to be and remain in full force and virtue.
