           To the Honourable the Supreme Court of Newfoundland or to one of the Honourable the Judges thereof.

The Petition of Thomas P. Quinton at present of           Clerk in Holy Orders

HUMBLY SHEWETH

           That the brother of Your Petitioner Edward C. Quinton of Harbour Grace in the Northern District of Newfoundland is a person of unsound mind, and is at the present time an inmate of the Asylum for the Insane at Saint Johns.
           That the said Edward C. Quinton has been an inmate in the said Asylum for a period of several months and from the information received by your Petitioner from the Attendant Physician there is not much hope of the said Edward Quinton recovering his reason.
           That the said Edward C. Quinton is possessed of property within the Jurisdiction of this Honourable Court of the probable value of Six Hundred dollars.
           That the said Edward C. Quinton is a Widower, having one child living, a daughter Ethel Frances Quinton, of about the age of seven years, who is at the present time living with her Aunt Livinia Alicia Quinton at Harbour Grace aforesaid.
That there has not been a guardian of the Estate of the said Edward C. Quinton appointed.

PRAYER

Your Petitioner therefore Humbly Prays

           That Letters of Guardianship of the Estate of the said Edward C. Quinton as from the date of his entering the said

Asylum may be granted to him during the continuance of the illness of the said Edward C. Quinton, by Your Honourable Court.
           And Your Petitioner as in duty bound will ever pray &c.
           Dated at Harbour Grace this 25th day of November A. D. One thousand Eight hundred and ninety eight.

Be it Remembered That on this Ninth day of January in the 63rd Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith, &c, and in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred personally appeared Thomas P. Quinton of Spaniards Bay in the Northern District, Clerk in Holy Orders, John McNeil, a Clerk in order??? ??? Merchant, and did acknowledge themselves to be held and firmly bound to our said Sovereign Lady the Queen, Her Heirs and Successors, in the penal Sum of Twelve Hundred dollars to be had, made and levied on his Goods, Chattels and Effects, jointly and severally, if Default is made in any of the conditions following :---

Now the Condition of this Obligation is such, that if the above bounden Thomas P. Quinton shall duly and faithfully act as Guardian of the Estate and Effects of Edward C. Quinton of Harbor Grace, a person of unsound mind and shall and do pay and dispose of such Estate in such manner as the said Court shall direct, then this obligation to be void and of no effect, or else to be and remain in full force and virtue.
