In the Supreme Court of Newfoundland

NEWFOUNDLAND
St. Johns To Wit:          I Donald M. Browning of St. Johns, Chief Clerk & Registrar, Supreme Court do swear that I believe that Thomas Power late of S. Johns, aforesaid, Fisherman, deceased, died without a Will; and that I will well and truly administer all and every the Goods of the said deceased and pay his debts, so far as his Goods will extend: and that I will exhibit a true, full and perfect Inventory of the said Goods of the deceased, and render a true account of my Administration into the Registry of the said Court, within six months from the date hereof, or when I shall be thereunto lawfully required; and that the whole of the Goods, Rights, Chattels, Assets, Credits and Effects of the said deceased of which he died possessed, within the jurisdiction of this Court, do not, according to the best of my knowledge, judgment and belief, amount to the value of Two hundred and seventy five dollars.

So help me God

NOTICE.

Three days from the date hereof, application will be made to the Honourable the Supreme Court or one of the Honourable Judges thereof, for letters of Administration de-bonis non to the Estate of Thomas Power, late of St. Johns, fisherman, deceased, to be granted to such person as the said Court may direct.
          Dated at St. Johns this 10th day of February A.D. 1900

To the Honourable the Supreme Court or one of the Honourable Judges Thereof.

The petition of Christiana Peet, of St. Johns in the Island of Newfoundland, married woman,

Humbly Sheweth

  1. That Thomas Power late of St. Johns, aforesaid, Fisherman, died at that place in the year 1888, intestate, leaving him surviving one son, namely, James Power.
  2. That said Thomas Power was possessed at the time of his death of property of the probable value of $275.00
  3. That the said James Power son of the said Thomas Power, died at St. Johns aforesaid, in the month of           A.D. 1894 intestate, having failed to take out Administration to the estate of his father, the said, Thomas Power.
  4. That the said James Power left him surviving as sole and next of kin, one son, Thomas Power, Junior, and his widow, Bridget Power.
  5. Letters of Administration to the Estate of the said Thomas Power deceased, were granted to the said Bridget Power on the 7th day of March 1898.
  6. That the said Bridget Power, died at St. Johns aforesaid on the                    1899, intestate, leaving her surviving as sole and next of kin one son the said Thomas Power, Junior.
  7. That the said Thomas Power Junior, resides without the Jurisdiction of this Honorable Court, the place of which is unknown.

  8. That the estate of the said Thomas Power, Senior, is indebted to your petitioner in the sum of $150.00 and upwards, being principal and interest due under a certain deed of mortgage on a portion of the said Estate, which your petitioner is desirous of liquidating. No further Administration has been granted to any Will or to the Estate of said deceased.
  9. No further Administration has been granted to any Will or to the Estate of said deceased.

          Your petitioner therefore prays that letters of administration de bonis non to the said estate of Thomas Power Senior, deceased, be granted to such person as this Honourable Court or one of your Lordships may determine.
          Dated at St. Johns this 24th day of February A.D. 1900
