NEWFOUNDLAND
To Wit I Thomas Henry James of Lower Island Cove, Conception Bay make oath and say that on the 11th day of May A.D. One Thousand Eight Hundred and eighty five at Grand Bank I was present and did see William Pardy late of Grand Bank, the Testator named in the paper writing hereunto annexed marked A, duly sign, (by making his mark) publish and declare the said annexed paper writing as and for his last Will and Testament, in my presence and in the presence of George Simms, the other subscribing witness thereto. That I and said George Simms then and there signed our names to such Will as such witnesses, in the presence of the said Testator and of each other. That previously to the said Will being so signed, as aforesaid, by the said Testator and the said Witnesses, it was read over to and approved of by, the said Testator in the presence of me and the said George Simms, and that at the time of the said execution of the said Will the said Testator was of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, to the best of my knowledge and belief.

In the name of God amen. The Eleventh day of May one thousand Eight hundred and Eighty Two
I William Pardy of Grand Bank, Fortune Bay, in the Southern District of the Island of Newfoundland being very old and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling into mind the mentality of the ??? ??? that it is appointed unto all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executor nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I will receive the same again by the Almighty Power of God and for touching? such worldly Estate therewith?? in ??? pleased God to grant me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form
First, I give and bequeath to my son Benjamin Buffett Pardy my dwelling house together with all the house hold furniture beds, bedding &c ??? houses
and the land whereon they stand. I also give to my son Benjamin Duffett Pardy

a garden close to my dwelling house a piece of land up by the side of Grand Bank Brook - adjoining land owned by William Buffett a piece of land up Grand Bank Brook close to John Bowland? half of a piece of land to the marsh near Long Pond the Southern side of this last mentioned piece to be Benjamin D. Pardy, a piece on Point Brenley? adjoining Mrs. Ann Forsey, ??? and a piece of land in the Western side of Admiraly? Cove half my piece of land in the marsh. I give to my son Charles Pardy his part ??? to the North
I make and ordain my sons Benjamin Buffett Pardy and Charles Pardy my sole Executors to this my last Will and Testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal at Grand Bank this Eleventh day of May AD One thousand Eight hundred and Eighty five.

The Petition of Benjamin Buffett Pardy
Humbly Sheweth
- That William Pardy late of Grand Bank, Fortune Bay, Fisherman, died at Grand Bank on or about the first day of January A.D. 1886, having previously made and executed as and for his last Will and Testament the paper writing hereto annexed marked "A".
- That said deceased in and by said last Will and Testament appointed your Petitioner Benjamin Buffett Pardy and Charles Pardy, brother of said Petitioner, Executors of said Will.
- That said deceased at the time of his death was possessed of property of the probable value of two hundred and fifty dollars.
- Hereto annexed marked "B" is a schedule containing an Inventory and Valuation (to the best of Petitioner's knowledge and belief) of the property of said Testator.
- That no Probate of said Will or Letters of Administration of said Estate of said deceased have been previously applied for.
Your Petitioner therefore prays that Probate of the Will of said deceased
be granted to him and his brother Charles
