NOTICE

Three days from the date hereof application will be made to the honourable the Supreme Court or to one of the Honourable the Judges thereof for letters of administration de bonis non to the estate of Denis Mealy late of St. Johns planter deceased and Margaret his wife to be granted to Johanna Mealy daughter of said Denis and Margaret Mealy.

I hereby certify that the foregoing notice was duly posted in this office from the day of the date thereof until this date and that no caveat or other objection has been entered thereto.

That Denis Mealy late of St. Johns aforesaid planter deceased died at the above place in the year A.D. 1860 intestate leaving him surviving his widow Margaret and nine children one of whom is your petitioner.
That in the year A.D. 1870 the widow of the said Denis Mealy died intestate.
That between the years A.D. 1870 and A.D. 1882 three of the said children died unmarried, viz. Theresa and John who died intestate and Denis who made a will under which his sister Margaret Feehan was appointed sole executrix and sole legatee.
That on the 17th day of July A.D. 1883 the said Margaret Feehan was appointed administratrix of the estates of the said Denis Mealy and Margaret his wife.
That the said estates at the date of granting the said administration were sworn to be under the value of $1500.
That the said Margaret Feehan died at St. Johns aforesaid on the 27th day of June A.D. 1890 without having distributed the said estates except in so far as the shares of two of the children viz. Mary wife of James Day Master Mariner, and Ann wife of Garrett Dooly shipwright, to both of whom were paid their shares of said estates and from whom releases were obtained in due legal form.
That the said administratrix in the year A.D. 1883 mortgaged the said estates to the Hon. Joseph J. Little one of the Judges of your Honourable Court and Robert J. Kent solicitor for

for the sum of ??? said mortgage having been transferred in the year A.D. 1892 by the mortgagees to Richard Mealy one of the said children for the said sum of $240 and $40 accumulated interest.
That the said mortgage is still a charge on the said estates and up to the present time no interest has been paid on the same.
That the property of the said estates at present is not of the value of more than eight hundred dollars.
That the said Margaret Feehan made and executed a last will and testament under which your petitioner is sole legatee.
That your petitioner has been assigned by her two sisters Catherine Regan and Bridget Maria Blake, their interest in the said estates, which with her own and that of Margaret Feehan bequeathed under her will, represents five out of six shares in the undistributed estate of said Denis and Margaret Mealy.
Petitioner therefore prays that administration de bonis non of the estates of the aforesaid Denis Mealy and Margaret, his wife may be granted to her and as in duty bound she will ever pray.

Be it Remembered That on this 9th day of February in the 63rd Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith, &c, and in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred

personally appeared Johanna Mealy of St John's Spinster Thomas Walsh of S. Johns Merchant and Michael Summers of S. Johns Trader and did acknowledge themselves to be held and firmly bound to our said Sovereign Lady the Queen, Her Heirs and Successors, in the penal sum of Sixteen hundred dollars to be had, made and levied on his Goods, Chattels and Effects, jointly and severally, if Default is made in any of the conditions following :---

Now the Condition of this Obligation is such, that if the above bounden Johanna Mealey as Administratrix of the Estate and Effects of Denis Mealey and Margaret Mealey late of St. Johns aforesaid deceased, do make or cause to be made, a just, true, and perfect inventory of all and singular the Goods, Credits and Effects of the said deceased, which have or shall come to the hands, possession, or knowledge of her the said Johanna Mealey as such Administratrix or to the hands or possession of any other person, or persons, for her and the same so made do exhibit, or cause to be exhibited, in the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, at or before the 9th day of August next ensuing the date hereof; and the said Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects, and all other the Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects of the said deceased, at the time of their deaths, or which at any time afterwards shall come into the hands or possession of her the said Administratrix or to the hands or possession of any other person or persons for her shall well and truly administer according to Law, and further shall make, or cause to be made, a just and true account of her said Administration, on or before the 9th day of February which will be in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand nine hundred and one and afterwards from time to time as she shall be lawfully required. And all the rest, residue, and remainder of the said Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects, which shall be found remaining upon the said Administration Account, the same being examined and allowed by the said Supreme Court of Newfoundland, shall and do pay and dispose of in due course of Administration, or in such a manner as the said Court shall direct; then this obligation to be void and of no effect, or else to be and remain in full force and virtue.

St. Johns To Wit:          I Johanna Mealey of St. Johns aforesaid Spinster do swear that I believe that Denis Mealy late of St. Johns Planter and Margaret Mealy of same place deceased, died without a Will; and that I will well and truly administer all and every the Goods of the said deceased and pay his debts, so far as his Goods will extend and the law shall bind me; and that I will exhibit a true, full and perfect Inventory of the said Goods of the deceased, and render a true account of my Administration into the Registry of the said Court, within six months from the date hereof, or when I shall be thereunto lawfully required; and that the whole of the Goods, Rights, Chattels, Assets, Credits and Effects of the said deceased of which he died possessed, within the jurisdiction of this Court, do not, according to the best of my knowledge, judgment and belief, amount to the value of Eight hundred dollars.

So help me God
