NEWFOUNDLAND
Trinity To Wit:          I do swear that I believe that George Fleet late of Cuckhold's Cove in the Northern District, Fisherman, deceased, died with a Will; and that I will well and truly administer all and every the Goods of the said deceased and pay his debts, so far as his Goods will extend: and that I will exhibit a true, full and perfect Inventory of the said Goods of the deceased, and render a true account of my Administration into the Registry of the said Court, within six months from the date hereof, or when I shall be thereunto lawfully required; and that the whole of the Goods, Rights, Chattels, Assets, Credits and Effects of the said deceased of which he died possessed, within the jurisdiction of this Court, do not, according to the best of my knowledge, judgment and belief, amount to the value of One thousand six hundred and fifty dollars.

Be it Remembered That on this Sixteenth day of January in the 63rd Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith, &c, and in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred personally appeared Joseph Morris Merchant of Trinity in the Northern District in the sum of One thousand six hundred dollars and John Milley Fisherman, James Crocker Accountant and Charles Fleet Fisherman, all of Trinity aforesaid and did acknowledge themselves to be held and firmly bound to our said Sovereign Lady the Queen, Her Heirs and Successors, in the penal Sum of Eighteen Hundred dollars to be had, made and levied on his Goods, Chattels and Effects, jointly and severally, if Default is made in any of the conditions following :---

Now the Condition of this Obligation is such, that if the above bounden Joseph Morris cum testamento annexo as Administrator of the Estate and Effects of George Fleet late of Cuckhold's Cove, fisherman, deceased, do make or cause to be made, a just, true, and perfect inventory of all and singular the Goods, Credits and Effects of the said deceased, which have or shall come to the hands, possession, or knowledge of him the said Joseph Morris as such Administrator or to the hands or possession of any other person, or persons, for him and the same so made do exhibit, or cause to be exhibited, in the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, at or before the Sixteenth day of July next ensuing the date hereof; and the said Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects, and all other the Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects of the said deceased, at the time of his death, or which at any time afterwards shall come into the hands or possession of him the said Joseph Morris or to the hands or possession of any other person or persons for him shall well and truly administer according to Law, and further shall make, or cause to be made, a just and true account of his said Administration, on or before the Sixteenth day of January which will be in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand nine hundred and one and afterwards from time to time as he shall be lawfully required. And all the rest, residue, and remainder of the said Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects, which shall be found remaining upon the said Administration Account, the same being examined and allowed by the said Supreme Court of Newfoundland, shall and do pay and dispose of in due course of Administration, or in such a manner as the said Court shall direct; then this obligation to be void and of no effect, or else to be and remain in full force and virtue.

          I hereby certify that the within named John Milley, James Crocker and Charles Fleet were duly sworn before me and testified as to fitness to become sureties for the within named Joseph Morris administrator c.t.a. and that the aforesaid John Milley, James Crocker, and Charles Fleet are fully qualified and competent to sign this Bond as such sureties.

The Petition of Charles Fleet of Cuckhold's Cove near Trinity in the Northern District, Fisherman

Humbly Sheweth

          That Your Petitioner's father, George Fleet, late of Cuckhold's Cove near Trinity in the Northern District, Fisherman, died there on the Fourth day of November 1898, having made and published his last will and testament, which is hereto annexed.

          That the said George Fleet left him surviving as sole next of kin, two children, namely, your Petitioner and Jane White also of Cuckhold's Cove, wife of George White, and his wife Jane Fleet.

          That hereto annexed is the written consent of the said Jane White and the said Jane Fleet to the appointment of Joseph Morris of Trinity, Trader, as Administrator to the Estate of the said George Fleet.

          That the said George Fleet at his decease, was possessed of property within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court of the probable value of one thousand six hundred dollars.

          That no probate of any will or letters of administration of the Estate of the said George Fleet have been granted or applied for.
          Your Petitioner therefore prays that Letters of Administration

Administration with the will annexed of the said George Fleet may be granted to Joseph Morris of Trinity, Trader.
          And, as in duty bound, Your Petitioners will ever pray &c

I Elijah Morris of Cuckhold's Cove near Trinity in the Northern District, make oath and say that on the 26th day of April A.D. One Thousand Eight  Hundred and ninety seven at Cuckhold's Cove I was present and did see George Fleet late of Cuckhold's Cove aforesaid the Testator named in the paper writing hereunto annexed marked A, duly sign, (by making his mark) publish and declare the said annexed paper writing as and for his last Will and Testament, in my presence and in the presence of Louisa Wiseman, the other subscribing witness thereto. That I and said Louisa Wiseman (the said Louisa Wiseman signing by making her mark thereto) then and there signed our names to such Will as such witnesses, in the presence of the said Testator and of each other, that previously to the said Will being so signed, as aforesaid, by the said Testator and the said witnesses, it was read over to, and approved of by the said Testator in the presence of me and the said Louisa Wiseman and that at the time of the said execution of the said Will the said Testator was of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, to the best of my knowledge and belief.

  1. I am sole Executor under the will of George Fleet late of Trinity Bay, deceased
  2. The Estate consisted of land and monies and valued at sixteen hundred dollars
  3. According to the term of the will the land and property was distributed between the only surviving children Charles Fleet and Jane Fleet wife of George White.
  4. The residue of the Estate consisting of money in Bank of Montreal was divided between the said two children
  5. There is now remaining on hand the sum of Two hundred dollars
