NEWFOUNDLAND
St. Johns   To Wit          I Lucy Ann Greene of St. John's aforesaid, Widow, do swear that I believe this to be the true Last Will and Testament of Andrew Thomas Drysdale late of Harbor Grace in the Northern District, Post Master, deceased, and I do further swear that I will pay all the Debts and Legacies of the said deceased so far as Goods shall extend, and the law shall bind me, and that I will exhibit a full, true and perfect Inventory of all and every the Goods, Rights and Credits of the deceased, together with a just and true account into the Registry of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, when I shall be lawfully called thereto. And I do further swear that the whole of the Goods, Rights, Chattels, Assets, Credits and Effects of the said Andrew Thomas Drysdale, deceased, and of which he died possessed, do not, according to the best of my knowledge, judgment and belief, amount to the value of Eight thousand seven hundred and sixty dollars

NOTICE

After three days from the date hereof, application will be made to the Honorable the Supreme Court of Newfoundland or to one of their Lordships the Judges thereof, for Probate to the Will and Testament of Andrew T. Drysdale late of Harbor Grace in the Island of Newfoundland, Post-master, deceased, to be granted to Lucy Ann Green of St. Johns, Newfoundland, Widow, the Executrix named in the Will.

Know all men by these presents, that I, Andrew Thomas Drysdale, of Harbor Grace, Newfoundland, Post Master, being of sound and disposing mind, memory and recollection, do make, publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament.

  1. I revoke all former Wills made by me.
  2. I will, devise, bequeath and give to my wife Margaret Drysdale one half of the moneys to be received from my Life Insurance Policies.
  3. I Will, devise, bequeath and give to my Wife Margaret Drysdale my collection of Postage stamps unused and cancelled.
  4. I Will, devise, bequeath and give to the Rev'd John March C C five hundred dollars.
  5. I will, devise, bequeath and give to my wife Margaret Drysdale the Gold Watch I received from F. J. McCarthy friends as a token of remembrance
  6. I will, devise, bequeath and give to my Wife Margaret Drysdale all my bedroom furniture, bedding and Carpets, also mahogany Dining Table, P??? Glass and Arm Chairs, purchased by me and all the furniture in the Bank Office.
  7. I will, devise, bequeath and give to my sisters Janet & Mary Drysdale and Lucy Ann Green Jointly one half money receivable from my insurance Policies all, all the furniture inherited from my father as well as the other appurtenances. The Land at Mosquito at present occupied by James Carroll, and also Land at Lady Pond.
  8. I will, devise, bequeath and give to Sister Lucy Ann Green my Fathers watch.
  9. I hereby constitute and appoint my Sister, Lucy Ann Green, St. Johns, to be sole Executrix to this my Last Will and Testament.

  10. My life Insurance Policies are one in the Union Mutual Life McCoy? Main $?000.00, Two Policies in the Standard £200 - 0 - 0 Sterling and $2000.00. Two Policies in the Canada Life for $1000.00 and $1500.00, all profits except first mentioned

          Lastly I leave my blessing to my Wife Sisters nieces and nephews with a good prayer that peace and harmony may rest on all.
Given under my hand this Sixth day of March A.D. Nineteen Hundred at Harbor Grace aforesaid.

Harbor Grace   To Wit          I John Foley of Harbor Grace in the Island of Newfoundland, Postal Clerk, make oath and say that on the Sixth day of March A.D. One Thousand Nine Hundred I was present and did see Andrew T. Drysdale late of Harbor Grace aforesaid, Post Master, the Testator named in the paper writing hereunto annexed, marked A, duly sign publish and declare the said annexed paper writing as and for his last Will and Testament, in my presence and in the presence of William Ward of Harbor Grace aforesaid, Customs Clerk, the other subscribing witness thereto. That I and said William Ward then and there signed our names to such Will as such witnesses, in the presence of the said Testator and of each other and that at the time of the said execution of the said Will the said Testator was of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, to the best of my knowledge and belief.

To the Honorable the Supreme Court of Newfoundland or one of their Lordships, the Judges thereof.

          The Petition of Lucy Ann Green of Saint Johns in the Island of Newfoundland Widow

Humbly Sheweth

  1. That Andrew Thomas Drysdale late of Harbor Grace in the Island of Newfoundland, Post-master, died at that place on or about the eleventh day of May A.D. 1900.
  2. That hereto annexed is the Last Will and Testament of the said Andrew Thomas Drysdale, of which your Petitioner was appointed Executrix.
  3. That the said Testator at the time of his death was possessed of certain property and estate within the jurisdiction of your Honorable Court, of the probable value of Eight thousand seven hundred and sixty dollars and that hereto annexed is an Inventory and Valuation of the said property and estate.
  4. That the said Testator left him surviving his widow, Margaret Drysdale as next of kin, Janet Mary Drysdale and your Petitioner.

  5. Application for Probate of the said Will or for Administration of the Estate of the said Andrew Thomas Drysdale has heretofore been made to this Honorable Court.

          Your Petitioner therefore humbly prays that your Honorable Court or one of Your Lordships the Judges thereof, will be pleased to grant unto her Probate of the Last Will and Testament of the said Andrew Thomas Drysdale deceased.

          And, as in duty bound, Your Petitioner will ever pray etc. etc.

          Dated this 22nd day of May A.D. 1900.
