In the Estate of Maria Cunningham late of Harbor Grace, Widow, deceased
I George Paterson of Harbor Grace in the Electoral District of Harbor Grace, Merchant, make oath and say:
That I believe the paper writing hereto annexed and marked by me to contain the true and original last Will and Testament of Maria Cunningham late of Harbor Grace in the Electoral District of Harbor Grace deceased: That I am the Executor therein named and that I will well and faithfully administer the estate and effects of the testatrix by paying her just debts and the legacies contained in her Will so far as the same shall thereto extend and the law bind me, and by distributing the residue (if any) of the estate according to law: and that I will exhibit under oath a true, full and perfect inventory of all and singular the estate and effects, rights and credits, of the testatrix and render a just and true account thereof whenever required by law so to do: that the testatrix died at Harbor Grace aforesaid on the eighteenth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and that the gross value of the estate and effects, rights and credits of the said testatrix is Nine hundred & sixty dollars and 43/100 dollars, and no more, according to the best of my knowledge, information and belief.

The Petition of George Paterson of Harbor Grace in the Island of Newfoundland Merchant
Humbly Sheweth
That Maria Cunningham late of Harbor Grace aforesaid Widow died at that place on or about the eighteenth day of December A.D. 1896.
That the Inventory hereto annexed marked "B" contains a full and true statement of the property and effects belonging to said deceased at the time of her death, so far as your Petitioner has been able to ascertain.
That your Petitioner verily believes that the paper writing hereto annexed marked "A" is the true last Will and Testament of the said Maria Cunningham deceased.
That under said Will your Petitioner is appointed the sole Executor.
That neither Probate nor Letters of administration have as yet been granted

to the said Estate.
Your Petitioner therefore prays that Probate to the said Will may be granted to him.
And as in duty bound he will ever pray.

To Wit
I James Augustus Clift of St. Johns aforesaid Solicitor make oath and say that on the Eleventh day of August A.D. One Thousand Eight Hundred and ninety three at Harbor Grace I was present and did see Maria Cunningham late of Harbor Grace aforesaid the Testatrix named in the paper writing hereunto annexed, Marked A, duly sign (by making her mark) publish and declare the said annexed paper writing as and for her last Will and Testament, in my presence and in the presence of George Paterson the other subscribing witness thereto. That I and said George Paterson then and there signed our names to such Will as such witnesses, in the presence of the said Testatrix and of each other. That previously to the said Will being so signed, as aforesaid, by the said Testator and the said witnesses, it was read over to and approved of by the said Testatrix in the presence of me and the said George Paterson and at the time of the said execution of the said Will the said Testator was of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, to the best of my knowledge and belief.

This is the last Will and Testament of me Maria Cunningham of Harbor Grace in the Island of Newfoundland, Widow.
First I will and desire that all my just and lawful debts shall be paid out of my Estate.
Second I give devise and bequeath unto Ada Monroe of Harbor Grace, daughter of Catherine (or Kate) Monroe (the residuary Legatee hereinafter named) (1) The Picture of my late Husband (2) my case of birds (3) my gold ring (4) my gold locket containing a likeness of my late husband and (5) one of my workboxes -
Third - I give devise and bequeath unto my grand daughter Catherine (or Kate) Monroe aforesaid - daughter of Thomas Monroe late of St. Johns deceased, all and singular the rest residue and remainder of my Estate and all my right title and interest in and to all lands chattels and effects of whatsoever nature and wheresoever situate together with the rents issues and profits of any lands that I may now or hereafter be possessed of at the time of my death and also all monies that I may die possessed of to hold the same in her own right absolutely and for ever.
Fourth - I nominate and appoint George Paterson of Harbor Grace aforesaid accountant Executor under this my said last Will and Testament.
In Witness whereof I, the said Maria Cunningham have hereunto set my hand at Harbor Grace aforesaid this Eleventh day of August Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and ninety three

as and for her last Will and Testament in the her
presence of us who present at the same time and in Maria X Cunningham
the presence of the said Testatrix and at her request mark
have hereunto subscribed our names as Witnesses,
