???????? the paper writing hereto annexed and marked by us to contain the true and original last Will and Testament of Alfred Beaton late of Exploits River, in the Electoral District of Twillingate deceased: That we are therein named and that we will well and faithfully administer the estate and effects of the testator by paying his just debts and the legacies contained in his said Will so far as the same shall thereto extend and the law bind us, and by distributing the residue (if any) of the estate according to law; and that we will exhibit under oath a true, full and perfect inventory of all and singular the estate and effects, rights and credits, of the testator, and render a just and true account thereof whenever required by law so to do: that the testator died at Upper Sandy Point on the 2nd day of July, one thousand nine hundred; and that the gross value of the estate and effects, rights and credits of the said testator is $1287.00 dollars and no more, according to the best of myour knowledge, information and belief. by the said John Gill and Alexander Constable.

The petition of John Gill Farmer and of Alexander Constable, Gentlemen both of Exploits in the Island aforesaid
Humbly Sheweth
- That Alfred Beaton, late of Upper Sandy Point, Exploits River in the Island aforesaid Farmer deceased died there on or about the 31st day of July AD 1900, having previously made and executed his last will and testament which is hereto annexed marked "A".
- That the said testator appointed your petitioners executors of his said last will and testament
- That the said testator at the time of his death was possessed of property within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court of the probable value of $1287.00
- That annexed hereto marked "B" is an inventory and valuation of the property of the said testator at the time of his death as far as your petitioners can at present ascertain.

- That no probate of any will nor administration to the Estate of the said
testator has hitherto been granted to any person.
Your petitioner therefore prays that probate of the will of the said
testator may be granted to them.
And as in duty bound your petitioners will ever pray etc. etc.

Know all men by these presents
That I, Alfred Beaton, of Upper Sandy Point, Exploits River, Newfoundland, Farmer, being of sound and disposing mind and memory, do make and publish this my last will and testament.
1st I give, devise and bequeath to my son William Beaton one half of my property, cleared and uncleared, situate at Wigwam Point and held by Grant, and containing 12 acres more or less
2nd I give, devise and bequeath to my son Thomas Beaton of Upper Sandy Point, land to the extent of 200 yards frontage, said property being the same upon which his house now stands, and extending back to limit of land held by me.
3rd I give, devise and bequeath to my son George Beaton of Upper Sandy Point, land to the extent of 200 yards frontage, said property being the same upon which his house now stands and extending back to limit of land held by me, and adjoining that of Thos Beaton.
4th I give, devise and bequeath to my son Alfred Beaton one half of my property, cleared and uncleared, situate at Wigwam Point and held by Grant, and containing 12 acres more or less.
5th I give devise and bequeath to my two youngest sons Frederick and James Beaton jointly the remainder of my property, consisting of Houses, nets, boats, tools, cattle, chattels, and everything appertaining to property at Upper Sandy Point, not otherwise disposed of by this my last will and testament

also my property in Peters Arm consisting of grass meadows, or pasture land, and containing two acres more or less, and held by Grant now in my provision, I also hold Will? of sale, for property now occupied by me at Upper Sandy Point. The whole as mentioned in this 5th clause to revert? to Frederick and James Beaton as aforesaid conditionally, which is, that they support myself and my wife for the remainder of our days, if required of them.
6th I give, devise and bequeath to my daughter Susan Seabright; wife of Elias Seabright Exploits River, Eighty dollars ($80.00) from the amount in Gov. Savings Bank at my death.
7th I give, devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Elizabeth Beaton the interest upon the remaining money in Savings Bank (after $50.00 has been handed over to my daughter the aforesaid Susan Seabright) until her death.
8th I give, devise and bequeath the remaining capital in Bank at my wife's death to Susan Seabright wife of Elias Seabright and Tryphena Mary, wife of James Beaton and to Frederick Beaton's wife, should he marry, proportionately, one third to each if they survive, otherwise left to the direction of my executors.
9th I appoint John Gill now of Exploits River and Alex Constable of Norris Arm executors to this my last will and testament.

To Wit I Frank S. Hollett of Botwoodville Methodist Minister make oath and say that on the 2nd day of July A.D. one thousand nine hundred at Upper Sandy Point I was present and did see Alfred Beaton late of Upper Sandy Point Exploits River in the Island aforesaid the Testator named in the paper writing hereunto annexed, marked A, duly sign (by making his mark) publish and declare the said annexed paper writing as and for his last Will and Testament, in my presence and in the presence of Thomas Antle and George Barnes the other subscribing witnesses thereto. That I and said Thomas Antle and George Barnes then and there signed our names to such Will as such witnesses, in the presence of the said Testator and of each other. That previously to the said Will being so signed, as aforesaid, by the said Testator and the said witnesses, it was read over to and approved of by the said Testator in the presence of me and the said Thomas Antle and George Barnes and at the time of the said execution of the said Will the said Testator was of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, to the best of my knowledge and belief.
