Robert Balmer Estate of Robert Balmer 1900
A J.A.C. Sheriff - Court of Roxburghshire I Richard Vary? Campbell Esquire Sheriff of Roxburg Beredick and Selkirk considering that the late Robert Rutherford Balmer, formerly merchant of Carbonear Newfoundland afterwards residing in Kelso? Scotland died at Kelso aforesaid on the twenty sixth day of August, Eighteen hundred and ninety nine and that by his Testament dated the fifth day of April Eighteen hundred and ninety five, and registered in the Books of Council and Session on the Eighth day of September eighteen hundred and ninety nine an Extract whereof is recorded in my Court Book upon the Seventeenth day of February Nineteen hundred the said Robert Rutherford Balmer nominated and appointed Patrick Stormouth Darling, Writer and Banker Kelso to be his Sole Executor and that the said Patrick Stormouth Darling has given up, on oath, an Inventory of the Personal Estate and effects of the said Robert Rutherford Balmer situated in Scotland amounting in Value to Two thousand and forty two pounds two Shillings and Eleven pence which Inventory (a certified Copy of which is signed and Sealed with reference hereto) has likewise been recorded in my Court Books of date the Seventeenth day of February Nineteen Hundred. Therefore I in Her Majestys Name and Authority Ratify, Approve and Confirm the nomination of Executor contained in the Page 2 aforesaid Testament and I give and commit to the said Patrick Stormouth Darling full power to uplift receive administer and dispose of said Personal Estate and effects, grant discharges thereof if needful to pursue therefor and generally every other thing concerning the same to do that to the office of Executor nominate is Known to belong Providing always that he shall render just Count and reckoning for his intromissions therewith, when and where the same shall be legally required (Signed) R. To the Honorable The Supreme The Petition of James Augustus Clift of St. Johns in the Island of Newfoundland Solicitor Humbly Sheweth That Robert R. Balmer formerly of Carbonear in the Island of Newfoundland Merchant but lately of Kelso, Scotland, died at Kelso aforesaid on or about the twenty sixth day of August A.D. 1899 having left a will dated the 5th day of April A.D. 1895 under which Patrick Stormouth Darling writer and Banker of Kelso aforesaid was nominated and appointed Executor Page 2 That said deceased was possessed of property and effects within the Jurisdiction of your Honorable Court of the probable value of Nineteen thousand two hundred dollars J. Augustus Clift
