TO THE HONOURABLE THE SUPREME COURT OF NEWFOUNDLAND, OR ONE OF THE HONOURABLE THE JUDGES THEREOF: -

THE PETITION of Joseph Colbourne, of Little Bay in Notre Dame Bay in Newfoundland, Fisherman,

1. James Colbourne, late of Twillingate, fisherman, deceased, died on or about the 5^th day of March, 1899, intestate, leaving him surviving his widow Barbara and two children, namely, Augustus Colbourne, aged seven years, and Bessie Colbourne, aged three years.
2. The said Barbara Colbourne died on or about the 15 day of July, 1899.
3. The property of which the said James Colbourne died possessed consists of a piece of land at Twillingate, with a dwelling-house, store, and cellar thereon, and certain household furniture and fittings, the whole being of the probable value of Four Hundred Dollars.
4. Your Petitioner is a brother of the said James Colbourne, deceased, the other brothers still living are Thomas, who lives in Little Bay aforesaid, Samuel, who lives in Tilt Cove, Robert, who lives in Tilt Cove, and Henry, who lives in England.
5. Since the decease of the said James Colbourne his son Augustus aforesaid has been living with your petitioner. The daughter, Bessie, has been living with a Mrs. Troke, of Twillingate.
6. No administration to the Estate of the said James Colbourne has at any time been granted.

Your Petitioner therefore prays that your Honourable Court or your Lordship may be pleased to grant to him Letters of Administration to the said Estate.
And, as in duty bound, your Petitioner will ever pray & c.
