NEWFOUNDLAND
St. Johns   To Wit          I Jacob S. Morris of St. Johns Contractor do swear that I believe that Emma Morris late of St. Johns, Married woman deceased, died with a Will; and that I will well and truly administer all and every the Goods of the said deceased and pay her debts, so far as her Goods will extend: and that I will exhibit a true, full and perfect Inventory of the said Goods of the deceased, and render a true account of my Administration into the Registry of the said Court, within six months from the date hereof, or when I shall be thereunto lawfully required; and that the whole of the Goods, Rights, Chattels, Assets, Credits and Effects of the said deceased which she died possessed of, within the jurisdiction of this Court, do not, according to the best of my knowledge, judgment and belief, amount to the value of One thousand two hundred dollars.

So help me God

Three days after the date hereof application will be made to the Honourable the Supreme Court or a Judge thereof, for Letters of Administration cum testamento annexo, to the Estate and effects of Emma Morris, late of St. Johns, married woman, deceased, to be granted to Jacob Morris of the same place, husband of deceased.

I Emma Morris of Saint Johns in the Island of Newfoundland, married woman, do make, publish and declare the following as and for my last will and testament.
To my executors hereinafter named, I give and bequeath my leasehold property on LeMarchant Road in Saint Johns aforesaid to have and to hold the same in trust for the use and benefit of my children Walter, Kenneth, Henrietta, Minnie Louise, Lily? and Laura until the youngest - or the youngest of the survivors of them shall attain the age of twenty-one years, then upon the youngest - or the youngest survivor of them attaining the age of twenty-one years as aforesaid upon further trust to convey the same to my said children or the survivors of them share and share alike. To my husband Jacob Morris, I give and bequeath the money belonging to me in the Trader's Bank in Toronto, Ontario in the Dominion of Canada. I appoint George E. Taylor and William Frederick Parsons of Saint Johns aforesaid to be the executors of this my will and I hereby revoke all other and former wills by me made.
In witness whereof I have hereto subscribed my hand at Saint Johns aforesaid this fourth day of November Anno Domini One Thousand Eight Hundred and ninety three?

St. John's  To Wit          I William J. Meehan of Saint Johns aforesaid solicitor make oath and say that on the Fourth day of November A.D. one thousand eight hundred and ninety three at Saint Johns, aforesaid I was present and did see Emma Morris late of Saint Johns aforesaid married woman the Testatrix named in the paper writing hereunto annexed, Marked A, duly sign (by making her mark) publish and declare the said annexed paper writing as and for her last Will and Testament, in my presence and in the presence of Emily Taylor the other subscribing witness thereto. That I and said Emily Taylor then and there signed our names to such Will as such witnesses, in the presence of the said Testatrix and of each other. That previously to the said Will being so signed, as aforesaid, by the said Testatrix and the said witnesses, it was read over to and approved of by the said Testatrix in the presence of me and the said Emily Taylor and that at the time of the said execution of the said Will the said Testatrix was of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, to the best of my knowledge and belief.

The Petition of Jacob S. Morris of Saint Johns in the Island of Newfoundland Contractor

Humbly Sheweth

That your petitioner's wife Emma Morris died at Saint Johns on the 5th day of November 1893 having first made and executed her last will and testament which is hereto annexed.
That the said deceased left her surviving your petitioner and five children all of whom are under age.
That she died possessed of a house of the probable value of under One thousand dollars and of cash of the amount of about one hundred dollars.
That the Executors named in the said will have renounced and no administrator has hitherto been granted to the estate of the said deceased.
Your petitioner therefore prays that Letters of Administration cum testamento annexo to the Estate of the said Emma Morris may be granted to him.
And as in duty bound your petitioner will ever pray
Dated at St. Johns the 25th day of January AD 1894

Be it Remembered That on this seventeenth day of April in the 58th Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith, &c, and in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and ninety five personally appeared Jacob S. Morris, Joseph Morris and Richard Baxter Crocker, and did acknowledge themselves to be held and firmly bound to our said Sovereign Lady the Queen, Her Heirs and Successors, in the penal Sum of Two thousand four hundred dollars to be had, made and levied on his Goods, Chattels and Effects, jointly and severally, if Default is made in any of the conditions following :---

Now the Condition of this Obligation is such, that if the above bounden Jacob S. Morris as Administrator with the will annexed of the Estate and Effects of Emma Morris late of Saint Johns, wife of said Jacob S. Morris deceased, do make or cause to be made, a just, true, and perfect inventory of all and singular the Goods, Credits and Effects of the said deceased, which have or shall come to the hands, possession, or knowledge of him the said Jacob S. Morris as such Administrator with the will annexed or to the hands or possession of any other person, or persons, for him and the same so made do exhibit, or cause to be exhibited, in the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, at or before the seventeenth day of October next ensuing the date hereof; and the said Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects, and all other the Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects of the said deceased, at the time of her death, or which at any time afterwards shall come into the hands or possession of him the said Jacob S. Morris or to the hands or possession of any other person or persons for him shall well and truly administer according to Law, and further shall make, or cause to be made, a just and true account of his said Administration, on or before the seventeenth day of April which will be in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and ninety six and afterwards from time to time as he shall be lawfully required. And all the rest, residue, and remainder of the said Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects, which shall be found remaining upon the said Administration Account, the same being examined and allowed by the said Supreme Court of Newfoundland, shall and do pay and dispose of in due course of Administration, or in such a manner as the said Court shall direct; then this obligation to be void and of no effect, or else to be and remain in full force and virtue.
