NEWFOUNDLAND    }
Harbour Grace  To Wit } I do swear that I believe this to be the true Last Will and Testament of Norah French late of Harbor Grace in the Northern District Spinster deceased I do further swear that I will pay all the Debts and Legacies of the said deceased so far as her Goods shall extend, and the law shall bind me, and that I will exhibit a full, true and perfect Inventory of all and every the Goods, Rights and Credits of the deceased, together with a just and true account into the Registry of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, when I shall be lawfully called thereto. And I do further swear that the whole of the Goods, Rights, Chattels, Assets, Credits and Effects of the said Norah French deceased, and of which she died possessed, do not, according to the best of my knowledge, judgment and belief, amount to the value of Four hundred dollars

So help me God

To the Honorable Sir F.B.T. Carter K.C.M.G.Chief Justice of the Supreme Court or one of the Hon. the Judges thereof.

          The Petition of Rev'd John March of Harbor Grace in the Northern District of the Island of Newfoundland Roman Catholic Priest.

Humbly Sheweth

          That Norah French late of Harbor Grace in the Northern District of the Island of Newfoundland ??? widow deceased died at Tumanck? Lah??? in the month of August last past having ??? made her last Will and Testament ??? ??? which is? hereto attached ??? ???
          That under the said will your Petitioner was appointed sole Executor.
          That the value of the estate of the said late Norah French ??? Three Hundred and eighty Dollars
          That no Administration to her said ??? ?? ??? of her said Will has been hitherto posted? in this Honorable Court
          Your Petitioner therefore prays that Letters of Probate to the said will may be granted to him.
          And as in duty bound will ever pray &c

I Thomas Hennessey of Harbour Grace in the Northern District of the Island of Newfoundland make oath and say that on the twenty eighth day of August in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and ninety five I was present and did see Norah French the Testatrix named in the Paper writing hereunto annexed marked "A" duly sign by making her mark thereto publish and declare the said annexed Paper-writing as and for her Last Will and Testament, in my presence and in the presence of James Doyle the other subscribing witness thereto - That I and the said James Doyle then and there signed our names to said will as such witnesses in the presence of the said Testatrix and of each other. That previously to the said will being so signed as aforesaid ??? the said Testatrix and

 

and witnesses it was read over and approved of by the said Testatrix in the presence of me and the said James Doyle and that at the time of the execution of the said Will, the said Testatrix was of sound mind memory and understanding to the best of my Knowledge and belief.

I the undersigned in sound mind but in failing health knowing the certainty of death and the uncertainty of living make this my last will and testimony that I bequeath my belongings as follows. To my brother John Power one suit of clothes. To Peter Kelly one suit of clothes. To my sister Katie Power $200.00 two hundred Dollars, To Mrs. Agnes [sic] Hr. Grace Convent $20.00 Twenty Dollars, To the Rev. John March $100.00 One hundred Dollars for Masses, my clothing to be distributed as my people think best, the Rev. John March I apoint [sic] as my executor given under my hand this twenty eighth day of August One thousand eight hundred and ninety five.
