Be it Remembered That on this 23rd day of April in the 58th Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith, &c, and in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and ninety five personally appeared Richard Dwyer of Holyrood in the Southern District School Teacher, Michael T. Kehoe Master Mariner of Harbor Grace and John Duggan also of Hr. Grace Fisherman and did acknowledge themselves to be held and firmly bound to our said Sovereign Lady the Queen, Her Heirs and Successors, in the penal Sum of Eight Hundred dollars to be had, made and levied on his Goods, Chattels and Effects, jointly and severally, if Default is made in any of the conditions following :---

Now the Condition of this Obligation is such, that if the above bounden Richard Dwyer shall duly and faithfully act as Guardian of the Estate and Effects of Mark P. Dwyer a Minor under the age of twenty-one years, and shall and do pay and dispose of such Estate in such manner as the said Court shall direct, then this obligation to be void and of no effect, or else to be and remain in full force and virtue.

To the Honorable the Supreme Court of Newfoundland

May it please your Lordships

          The Petition of Richard Dwyer teacher Holyrood most humbly sheweth
That he is the father of Mark P. Dwyer a minor who is ten years of age;
That the late Peter Dwyer Merchant of Harbor Grace deposited on August 24th 1892 for the said Mark P. Dwyer, in the Harbor Grace Branch of the Newfoundland Savings Bank the Sum of four hundred dollars - which is now at said Bank:
That the aforesaid Peter Dwyer died on the 18th of February 1893
          Petitioner aforesaid therefore most humbly prays that Your Honorable Court grant unto him the aforesaid Richard Dwyer Letters of Guardianship for the Estate of the said Mark P. Dwyer
          And as in duty bound petitioner shall ever pray
