Long Pond To Wit:     }

I do swear that I believe that William Greenslade late of KelligrewsLong Pond in the District of Harbor Main Fisherman--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
deceased died with ----------- a Will; and that I will well and truly administer all and every the Goods of the said deceased, and pay his Debts so far as his Goods will extend; and that I will exhibit a true, full and perfect Inventory of the said Goods of the deceased, and render a true account of Administration into the Registrar of the said Court within Six months from the date hereof, or when I shall be thereunto lawfully required; and that the whole of the goods, rights, chattels, assets, credits and effects of the said deceased, of which he died possessed, within the jurisdiction of this Court, do not, according to the best of my knowledge, judgment and belief, amount to the value of Six hundred and fifty ----------------------------Dollars.

So help me GOD.

make oath and say that on the Eighth day of March A.D. One Thousand Eight Hundred and ninety-two -------------- at Long Pond ------------- I was present and did see William Greenslade late of Long Pond in the District of Harbor Main Fisherman the Testator named in the paper writing hereunto annexed, marked A, duly sign, (by making his mark) publish and declare the said annexed paper writing, as and for his last Will and Testament in my presence and in the presence of Peter Greenslade and John Bishop ------------------ then and there signed our names to such Will as such witnesses, in presence of the said Testator and of each other. That previously to the said Will being so sign-ed, as aforesaid, by the said Testator and the said witnesses, it was read over to, and approved of by, the said Testator in the presence of me and the said Peter Greenslade and John Bishop and that at the time of the said execution of the said Will the said Testator was of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, to the best of my knowledge and belief.

          In the Name of God Amen.
          I William Greenslade of Long Pond, South Shore, Conception Bay, Newfoundland, Fisherman and Farmer, being very sick and weak in body but of perfect Mind and Memory, do Make and ordain this my last Will and Testament.
          In the first place I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Mary, my dwelling House and all that is in it. Cellar, Stable (except for the linny) kitchen garden and all my cultivated land (except what will be hereinafter Mentioned) Bounded as follows, North by Thomas Greenslade Jr West by Peter Greenslade, East by Thomas Noseworthy and South by land I am giving to Henry Pettin(?). All that I have given and bequeathed to my wife is for her Sole use and benefit and she can dispose of it in any Manner She wishes especially if she should become in need or want
          I give and bequeath to Henry Pettin (?) My adopted Son three acres of partly cultivated land bounded as follows, North by William Greenslade, South by Thomas Greenslade, East by Thomas Noseworthy and West by Peter Greenslades land. I also give and bequeath to Henry Pettin (?) My fishing boat on this condition that he is to let My wife's boy go with him in the boat to catch fish or Caplin. I also give and bequeath to Henry Pettin (?) the house that he is now living in and the ground that the house is on. I also give to Henry Pettin (?) the Linny (?) both over and under that is attached to My Stable, but it has never to be removed
          I give and bequeath to Joseph Greenslade My godchild that piece or parcel of land that was willed to me by my father the late Matthew Greenslade

And I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke and disannul(?) all and every other former Testaments and Wills by me in anywise before named. I (word crossed out - not decipherable) willed and bequeathed, ratifying and confirming this, and no other to be my last Will and Testament. In Witness thereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this 8th day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety two. -

of Mary Greenslade of Long Pond in The Electoral District of Harbor Main in The Island of Newfoundland widow

Humbly Sheweth

          That William Greenslade late of Long Pond aforesaid Farmer and Fisherman deceased died at that place on or about the twenty ninth day of June one thousand eight hundred and ninety two leaving him surviving as next of kin his widow - three brothers namely Thomas Henry and Edward Greenslade two Step-brothers and two - Step Sisters - but no children.

          That at the time of his decease he the said William Greenslade was possessed of money property and effects within the jurisdiction of your Honorable Court of the probable value of Six hundred dollars

          That prior to his decease the said William made and published his last Will and Testament which said

will is hereto annexed marked A and which has been proven in due form of law by the affidavit of Francis F. Furneaux of Kelligrews School Teacher one of the Subscribing witnesses thereto

          That neither Probate or Letters of administration have as yet been granted to the Said Estate

          Your Petitioner therefore prays that Letters of administration cum testament annexo may be granted to her and as in duty bound She will ever pray

                    Be it Remembered,
That on this Nineteenth day of November in the year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady VICTORIA, by the Grace of GOD, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the faith, &c., and in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and ninety four personally appeared Mary Greenslade of Long Pond in the District of Harbor Main - widow Charles Butler of Middle Bight Farmer and Alfred Butler of Middle Bight Fisherman and did acknowledge themselves to be held and firmly bound to our said Sovereign Lady the Queen, Her Heirs and Successors, in the penal Sum of Twelve hundred Dollars to be had, made, and levied on their Goods, Chat-tels, and effects jointly and severally if default is made in any of the Conditions following:---

          Now the Condition of this Obligation is such, that if the above bounden Mary Greenslade as Administratrix cum testament annexo of the Estate and Effects of William Greenslade late of Long Pond aforesaid Fisherman deceased, do make, or cause to be made, a just, true and perfect Inven-tory of all and singular, the Goods, Credits and Effects of the said deceased, which have or shall come to the hands, possession, or knowledge of her the said Mary Greenslade as such Administratrix cum testatmento annexo or to the hands or possession of any other person or persons, for her and the same so made do exhibit, or cause to be exhibited into the Su-preme Court of Newfoundland, at or before the Nineteenth day of May next ensuing the date hereof; and the said Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects, and all the other Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects of the said deceased, at the time of his death, or which at any time afterwards shall come to the hands or possession of me the said Mary Greenslade ------------------------------ or to the hands or possession of any other person or persons for me shall well and truly admin-ister according to Law, and further shall make, or cause to be made, a just and true account of my said Administration, on or before the Nineteenth day of November which will be in the year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Ninety five and afterwards from time to time as - I ---- shall be lawfully required. And all the rest, residue and remainder of the said Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects, which shall be found remaining upon the said Admin-istration account, the same being examined and allowed by the said Supreme Court of Newfoundland, shall and do pay and dispose of in a due course of Administration, or in such manner as the said Court shall direct;--- then this Obligation to be void and of no effect or else to be and remain in full force and virtue.
