To the Honourable the Supreme Court
of Newfoundland as ??? of them
Honourable the Judges thereof

The petition of Thomas S. Pooke of
Saint John's, Accountant

Humbly Sheweth
That Emily Rolls late of Grand River Codroy deceased wife of John ------------ Rolls now of Santa Paula ------------ California ----------- But formerly of Grand River, Codroy in the Island of Newfoundland died at Grand River aforesaid on the Eighth day of March ------ A.D. 1887 ---- intestate

That said deceased at the time of her death was possessed of property within the Jurisdiction of this Honourable Court of the probate value of one thousand dollars.

That the said John Rolls hath nominated and appointed your petitioner as by reference to a Power of attorney which is hereto Effectually to all intents?? And - proposed , as I myself could do if I were? Present? and did to satisfy confirm and allow all and ????? will fully appear to apply for Letters of administration to the Estate and effects of the said deceased.

That no Probate to any Will nor Administration to the Estate of said deceased has hitherto been granted to any person.

Your petitioner therefore prays that Letters of Supreme Court of Newfoundland for Letters of Administration to the Estate of the said Emily Rolls deceased be granted to him

And as in duty bound petitioner will ever pray &c.
Dated at Saint John's this 21st day of January A.D. 1892
