NEWFOUNDLAND AFFIDAVIT. You shall swear that you believe this to be the true last Will and Testament of George Cook, Senior late of St. John's in the Central District of Newfoundland, Farmer, deceased. You shall swear that you will pay all the Debts and Legacies of the Deceased, so far as the Goods shall extend and the Law shall bind you; and that you will exhibit a true, full and perfect Inventory of all and every the Goods, Rights and Credits of the deceased, together with a just and true account into the Registry of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, when you shall be lawfully called thereto: And you shall further swear that the whole of the Goods, Rights, Chattels, Assets, Credits, and Effects of the said George Cook, Senior, deceased, and of which he died possessed, do not, according to the best of your knowledge, judgment and belief, amount to the value of Two Thousand Six Hundred Dollars. So help you God. Sworn before me, at St. John's,
1889 Estate of George Cook, Senior Dated 8th March 1889 Probate granted to Estate sworn under $2600.00
This is the last Will and Testament of me George Cook Senr of Saint John's in the Island of Newfoundland, Farmer. Do make and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament in manner following: Page 2 the said land to go to James and his heirs, the said land shall not be sold or mortgaged. Also I give to my son James Cook six acres of land together with the Barn and Dwelling House thereon situate on the north side of Logy Bay Road. I also request that the rent of said premises, say one dollar and fifty cents per acre *per annum shall be paid to my said wife Susannah during her life time. The said land or premises shall not be sold or mortgaged and in the event of James' death, then to the next of kin. Also I give to George Cook during his life time four acres of land more or less situate on the East side of Logy Bay Road and after his death to his heirs, him or they paying to the aforesaid Susannah Cook the sum of One Dollar and fifty cents per acre *per annum during her life time, said land not to be sold or mortgaged. Also I give to Henry Rex Cook four acres of land situate on the West side of Logy Bay Road together with the Dwelling House and Barn which I now occupy during his life and his heirs together with the stock and farming utensils, he paying to his Mother one dollar and fifty cents Page 3 per acre per annum during her life time. I also give to my son Charles Cook, his heirs and assigns twenty four acres of land situate on the East of Logy Bay Road, said land not to be sold or mortgaged. Also I give and bequeath to my wife Susannah Cook all my household goods beds and bedsteads and other furniture belonging to me and I also request that my said wife shall remain dwell after my death during her life time on the premises
heretofore bequeathed to my son Henry Rex Cook, said premises not to be sole or mortgaged. Also I give to my said wife during her life time two houses situate in Hoylestown. Also I give my said Wife the sum of five hundred dollars and also I give to William Cook the sum of one hundred dollars, also I exonerate him from all debts due me. To the Honourable the Supreme Court of The Petition of William Davenport of St. John's, Newfoundland, Mason Humbly Sheweth That George Cook Senior late of St. John's aforesaid died at his dwelling house in St. John's on or about the twenty seventh day of January last leaving him surviving the following next of kin viz. his Widow Susannah, eight sons and one daughter viz. Thomas, Joseph, George, William, John, Charles, James and Charlotte. Page 2 as in duty bound will pray. William Davenport
