To Wit          } I do swear that I believe that Mary Stealey, late of Montreal, Canada but formerly of St. John's, Newfoundland, Widow, deceased died with a Will; and that I will well and truly administer all and every the Goods of the said deceased, and pay her Debts so far as her Goods will extend; and that I will exhibit a true, full, and perfect Inventory of the Goods of the deceased, and render a true account of my Administration into the Registry of the said Court, within six months from the date hereof, or when I shall be thereunto lawfully required; and that the whole of the Goods, Rights, Chattels, Assets, Credits and Effects of the said deceased, which she died possessed of, within the jurisdiction of this Court, do not, according to the best of my knowledge, judgment and belief, amount to the value of Eleven Thousand dollars.

Be it Remembered, That on this thirteenth day of September in the Fifty Second Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady VICTORIA, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith, &c, and in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty-Eight personally appeared James P. Furlong, John T. M. Furlong and Laurence O'B Furlong, all of St. John's, Merchants and did acknowledge themselves to be held and firmly bound to our said Lady the Queen, her Heirs and Successors, in the penal Sum of Twenty Two Thousand Dollars, to be had, made and levied on their Goods, Chattels and Effects, jointly and severally, if Default is made in any of the conditions following:--

NOW THE CONDITION OF THIS OBLIGATION IS SUCH, That if the above bounden James P. Furlong as Administrator C.T.A. of the Estate and Effects of Mary Healey late of Montreal, Canada but formerly of St. John's, widow, deceased, do make, or cause to be made, a just, true, and perfect Inventory of all and singular the Goods, Credits and Effects of the said deceased, which have or shall come to the hands, possession, or knowledge of him the said James P. Furlong as such AdministratorC.T.A.* or to the hands or possession of any other person, or persons, for him and the same so made do exhibit, or cause to be exhibited, in the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, at or before the 13th day of March next ensuing the date hereof; and the said Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects, and all other the Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects of the said deceased, at the time of her death, or which at any time afterwards shall come into the hands or possession of him the said James P. Furlong or to the hands or possession of any other person or persons for him shall well and truly administer according to Law, and further shall make, or cause to be made, a just and true account of his said Administration, on or before the 13th day of September which will be in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty-Eight and afterwards from time to time as he shall be lawfully required. And all the rest, residue, and remainder of the said Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects, which shall be found remaining upon the said Administration Account, the same being examined and allowed by the said Supreme Court of Newfoundland, shall and do pay and dispose of in due course of Administration, or in such a manner as the said Court shall direct; then this obligation to be void and of no effect, or else to be and remain in full force and virtue.

St. John's, Newfoundland,
Widow, deceased.

          Margaret Furlong of St. John's in the Central District of the Island of Newfoundland, widow of the Honorable James Furlong late of St. John's aforesaid, deceased, maketh oath and saith that the said Mary Healy, Testatrix above named, departed this life at Montreal aforesaid (as Deponent believes) on or about the third day of August last past.
That Deponent is the Mother of the said testatrix Mary Healy, has frequently seen her write and has corresponded with her for about thirteen years during the residence of the said Mary Healy in Canada prior to her decease.
That the paper writing hereto annexed marked A and purporting to be the last Will and Testament of the said Mary Healy is the proper handwriting of the said

Mary Healy and the signature Mary Healy thereto subscribed is the proper handwriting and signature of the said testatrix Mary Healy.
And further that this deponent verily believes that the said Mary Healy was at the time of making and writing her said last Will and Testament of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding.

          Johanna Furlong of St. John's in the Central District of the Island of Newfoundland, Spinster, maketh oath and saith that Mary Healy, the testatrix above named, departed this life at Montreal aforesaid (as Deponent believes) on or about the third day of August last past.
That Deponent is the Sister of the said Mary Healy and has frequently seen her write and from several years correspondence, Deponent is well acquainted with the handwriting of the said Mary Healy.
That the paper writing hereto annexed marked "A" and purporting to be the last Will and Testament of the said Mary Healy is the proper handwriting of the said Mary Healy and the signature "Mary Healy" thereto subscribed is the proper handwriting and signature of the said Mary Healy.
And further that

Furlong of St. John's in the Central District of the Island of Newfoundland, Merchant, maketh oath and saith that Mary Healy recently of Montreal Canada and formerly of St. John's aforesaid, sister of Deponent, departed this life on or about the third day of August (as Deponent was advised by telegram and more recently by letter).
That Deponent is well acquainted with the handwriting of the said Mary Healy having frequently seen her write and from letters received from the said Mary Healy and from constant correspondence with her during her residence in Canada for about thirteen years prior to her decease, having acted during that time as her authorized attorney and agent.
That the paper writing hereto annexed marked

"A" is wholly the proper handwriting of the said Mary Healy and the signature "Mary Healy" subscribed thereto is also the proper handwriting and signature of the said Mary Healy.
That this Deponent visited the said Testatrix Mary Healy several times during his recent visit to Montreal and on the last of such visits, the said Mary Healy handed and delivered to Deponent the said annexed paper writing marked as aforesaid as and for her last Will and Testament.
That the said Testatrix was then at the time of making such her last Will and Testament of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding.

          We, the undersigned, having an interest in the Estate of the above named Mary Healy, deceased, hereby agree and consent that Probate or Letters of Administration with the Will annexed of the said Mary Healy may be granted to James P. Furlong of  St. John's, Merchant.

The Petition of James P. Furlong of St. John's in the Central District of the Island of Newfoundland

Respectfully Sheweth

          That Mary Healy, recently of Montreal in the Dominion of Canada, widow of the late James Healy and Sister of this Petitioner, departed this life on or about the third day of August last past, leaving her surviving her Mother, Margaret Furlong, her Brothers, this Petitioner James P. Furlong, John T. M. Furlong and Lawrence O'B. Furlong and her Sisters Johanna Furlong and Susan Alsop, wife of Carteret Alsop.
          That the said Mary Healy did, on or about the twenty sixth day of June in this present year, make and publish her last Will and Testament in writing (holograph) without expressly appointing any executor thereof.

          That the said Mary Healy was at the time of her death possessed of Bank Shares and other moneys and chattels of the probable value of Eleven Thousand Dollars.
          Petitioner therefore prays that Probate as Executor according to the te??? or that Letters of Administration with the Will annexed may be granted to him. And, Petitioner further states that John T. M. Furlong, Carteret Alsop and Susan, his wife, de???ees under the said Will are consenting parties to the prayer of the above Petition. And, that Lawrence O'B. Furlong the only other one (except Petitioner) interested in the said Will is now absent from Newfoundland being in England, from whom a letter was lately received in which, in referring to the said Will, he expressed the hope that Deponent had taken out Probate.
