Supreme Court of Newfoundland ST. JOHN'S } Sworn before me, at St. John's, the
1888 Estate of William Stabb Dated May 1st 1888 Admin d.b.n. granted to Estate sworn under $360.00
Supreme Court of Newfoundland Be it Remembered, That on this first day of May in the 51st Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady VICTORIA, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith, &c, and in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty-eight personally appeared James Howe of St. John's, Merchant, Arthur S. Kendell and Charles W. H. Tessier, also of St. John's, Merchants, and did acknowledge themselves to be held and firmly bound to our said Lady the Queen, her Heirs and Successors, in the penal Sum of Seven Hundred and Twenty Dollars, to be had, made and levied on their Goods, Chattels and Effects, jointly and severally, if Default is made in any of the conditions following:-- NOW THE CONDITION OF THIS OBLIGATION IS SUCH, That if the above bounden James Howe, as Administrator de bonis non of the Estate and Effects of William Stabb, late of St. John's, Master Mariner, deceased, do make, or cause to be made, a just, true, and perfect Inventory of all and singular the Goods, Credits and Effects of the said deceased, which have or shall come to the hands, possession, or knowledge of him the said James Howe as such Administrator or to the hands or possession of any other person, or persons, for him and the same so made do exhibit, or cause to be exhibited, in the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, at or before the first day of November next ensuing the date hereof; and the said Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects, and all other the Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects of the said deceased, at the time of his death, or which at any time afterwards shall come into the hands or possession of him the said James Howe or to the hands or possession of any other person or persons for him shall well and truly administer according to Law, and further shall make, or cause to be made, a just and true account of his said Administration, on or before the first day of May which will be in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty-nine and afterwards from time to time as he shall be lawfully required. And all the rest, residue, and remainder of the said Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects, which shall be found remaining upon the said Administration Account, the same being examined and allowed by the said Supreme Court of Newfoundland, shall and do pay and dispose of in due course of Administration, or in such a manner as the said Court shall direct; then this obligation to be void and of no effect, or else to be and remain in full force and virtue. To the Honorable the Supreme Court The Petition of James Howe of St. John's in the said Island, Merchant Humbly Sheweth That William Stabb, late of St. John's aforesaid, Master Mariner, departed this life about the twenty fifth day of August Anno Domini Eighteen Hundred and Eighty Six, intestate, leaving him surviving his widow, Sarah Elizabeth Stabb and one son, William J. B. Stabb. Page 2 money paid by him for her use and that Petitioner paid the funeral expenses of the said widow amounting to upwards of seventy dollars. Page 3 humbly prays that Letters of Administration de bonis non to the Estate of the said William Stabb be granted to your Petitioner upon his giving the usual security and as in duty bound will ever pray.
Newfoundland In the Supreme Court James Howe of St. John's in the Island of Newfoundland, Merchant, maketh oath and saith that he is the Petitioner named in the foregoing petition and that the matters and things therein contained are just and true.

Notice After three days from this date application to the Supreme Court or one of the Honorable Judges thereof will be made for Letters of Administration de bonis non of the Estate of William Stabb, late of
St. John's, Master Mariner, deceased, to be granted to James Howe of St. John's, Merchant. *Initials GJA in left margin.
I certify that the notice on the other side written was duly posted up in the Clerk's Office on the day of its date and has since that date remained so posted & further that no caveat has been entered thereto.
I William James Baxter Stabb of St. John's Newfoundland, Accountant, do hereby request that James Howe of the same place, Merchant, a creditor of the Estate of my late father William Stabb, late of the same place, Master Mariner, deceased to obtain Letters of Administration de bonis non to the Estate of the said William Stabb.
