          In the name of God Amen I Patrick McDonald of Portugal Cove Road in the Central District of the Island of Newfoundland Farmer being of sound mind memory and understanding do make publish and declare as and for my last will and testament this paper writing I bequeath unto my son Martin McDonald eight acres of land now in his possession and occupied by him with the dwelling house thereon - I bequeath to Peter McDonald my son eight acres of land from my fence to James ??? and joining Martin McDonald's and John MacDonald's land and Br???s ?atte also the stable and barn joining each other belonging to me - John McDonald is to have the remainder of the land now in his possession and occupied by him and ??? horse carts and catamaran and my two cows The house I live in I also bequeath to John McDonald as also the horses stable also the household furniture. I appoint Martin McDonald and James Walsh executors of this my last will and Testament - and I revoke all other wills by me and declare this to be my last will and

and testament - Signed Published and Declared as and for my last will and testament in the presence of us the undersigned and in the presence of each other having been first read over and explained to Patrick McDonald - Dated at Saint Johns in the Island of Newfoundland this twenty third day of June A.D. 1887 -

To the Honorable the Supreme Court or one of the Honorable Judges thereof

The Petition of Martin McDonald of Saint Johns Farmer

Humbly Sheweth

That Petitioners father Patrick McDonald late of Saint Johns aforesaid farmer died at that place on the fourth day of May last past having made and executed the paper writing hereto annexed as and for his last will and testament That under said will petitioner and one James Walsh are appointed executors
          That the said James Walsh has duly renounced as such Executor
          That said will has been duly proven
          That testator died possessed of property of the probable value of two thousand dollars
          That no probate of administration has been granted to the estate of the said Patrick McDonald
          Petitioner therefore prays that probate to the said will may be granted to him
          And as in duty bound he will ever pray
          Dated at Saint Johns Newfoundland this 30th day of June AD 1888

          James Walsh of Saint Johns ??? maketh oath and saith that Patrick McDonald late of Saint Johns aforesaid Farmer died at that place in the month of April last having made and and (sic) executed a paper writing hereto annexed as and for his last will and testament
          That under said will this deponent has appointed one of the executors
          That deponent has in no way interfered or meddled with the affairs of the estate of the said Patrick McDonald and freely and voluntarily renounces as said Executor

You shall swear that you believe this to be the true Last Will and Testament of Patrick McDonald late of Saint Johns in the Central District of Newfoundland, Farmer deceased

You shall swear that you will pay all the Debts and Legacies of the Deceased, so far as the Goods shall extend and the Law shall bind you: and that you will exhibit a true, full and perfect Inventory of all and every the Goods, Rights and Credits of the deceased, together with a just and true account into the Registry of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, when you shall be lawfully called thereto: And you shall further swear that the whole of the Goods, Rights, Chattels, Assets, Credits and Effects of the said Patrick McDonald Deceased, and of which he died possessed, do not according to the best of your knowledge, judgment and belief, amount to the value of two thousand five hundred dollars.

William S McGrath
of Saint Johns, ??? matter maketh oath and saith that on the twenty third day of June A.D. one thousand eight hundred and eighty seven at Saint Johns he, this Deponent, was present and did see Patrick McDonald late of Saint Johns the Testator named in the paper writing hereunto annexed duly sign (by making his mark) publish and declare the said annexed paper writing as and for his last Will and Testament, in the presence of this Deponent and of the other subscribing witness thereto. That Deponent and said Robert J. Parsons then signed their names to such Will as such witnesses, in the presence of the said Testator and of each other. That previously to the said Will being so signed as aforesaid, by the said Testator and the said witnesses, it was read over and approved of by the said Testator in the presence of Deponent and of Robert J. Parsons the other subscribing witness thereto. That Deponent and said Robert J. Parsons then signed their names to such Will as such witnesses, in the presence of the said testator and of each other - That previously to the said Will being so signed as aforesaid, by the said Testator and the said witnesses, it was read over to and approved of by the said Testator in the presence of Deponent and the said Robert J. Parsons and that at the time of the said execution of the said Will the said Testator was of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, to the best of Deponent's knowledge and belief.
