In the Estate of Johanna Maher Deceased.

I James Maher of St. Johns in the Electoral District of St. Johns accountant, make oath and say that Johanna Maher late of St. Johns, in the Electoral District of St. Johns widow deceased died with a Will, that I am the executor therein named; that I will well and faithfully administer the estate and effects of the testator by paying her just debts and the legacies contained in her Will, as far as the same shall thereto extend and the law bind me, and by distributing the residue (if any) of the said estate and effects according to law; that I will exhibit under oath a true, full and perfect inventory of all and singular the estate and effects of the testatrix, and render a just and true account thereof whenever required by law so to do; that the testatrix died at St. Johns aforesaid on the 29th day of March, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen; and that the gross value of the estate and effects of the said testatrix is nine hundred dollars, and no more, according to the best of my knowledge, information and belief.

          The petition of James J. Maher of St. John's, Newfoundland Accountant,

Humbly Sheweth

  1. Johanna Maher late of St. John's aforesaid, Widow, died at St. John's aforesaid on the 27th day of March Nineteen hundred and seventeen, having first made and published her last will and Testament which is hereto annexed marked "A".
  2. Your petitioner is the sole Executor named in the said Will.
  3. The paper-writing hereto annexed marked "B" is a just, full, and true inventory and valuation of the property of the said testatrix at the time of her death as far as your petitioner can at present ascertain.
  4. No letters of Probate or any Will or Letters of Administration of the Estate of the said deceased have been granted by your Honourable Court.

          Your petitioner prays that Probate of the said Will be granted to him and as in duty bound will ever pay &c.

          St. John's this 15th day of May, 1917.

I James McGrath of St. Johns in the Electoral District of St. Johns in the Island of Newfoundland, Solicitor, make oath and say, that on the 19th day of February A.D. One Thousand nine hundred and nine, I was present and did see Johanna Maher late of St. Johns, in the Electoral District of St. Johns, in the Island aforesaid, widow, the Testatrix named in the paper writing hereunto annexed, marked A., duly sign, publish and declare the said annexed paper writing, as and for her last Will and Testament in my presence, and in the presence of James Roscoe? the other subscribing witness thereto, That I and said James Roscoe? then and there signed our names to such Will as such witnesses, in the presence of the said Testatrix. And that at the time of the said execution of the said Will the said Testatrix was of sound and disposing mind, memory, and understanding, to the best of my knowledge and belief.

This is the last will of me Johanna Maher of St. John's Newfoundland widow and I revoke all former wills by me made, I appoint my son, James J. Maher to be the executor of this my will. I give devise and bequeath all the property of whatsoever kind I die possessed of to my four children namely James J. Maher J. Lucy Maher Ellen Maher and Agnes Maher in equal shares. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name at St. Johns aforesaid this 19th day of February 1909.

          In pursuance of the provisions of "The Death Duties Acts 1914 to 1916," and Amendments thereof, I hereby certify that the value of the said estate, after making allowances for debts incurred during the life time of the deceased, and due and payable at the time of her death was $ 900.00 and that the sum of  $          being the duties specified in the schedule of the said Acts have been duly paid, and the receipt is hereby acknowledged.
