To the Supreme Court of Newfoundland The Petition of James Hanham, at present of Rose Blanche in the Southern District, Fisherman, and of Jacob Hanham of Placentia, also in the said District, Telegraph Operator, Humbly Sheweth That Dina L Hanham late of Rose Blanche aforesaid, Widow, died on the Fourth day of April A.D. 1884 at Rose Blanche aforesaid having previously made her last will and testament hereto annexed and Marked A and whereby she appointed your petitioners executors thereof and as your Petitioner James Hanham, is about to leave Newfoundland and reside permanently in the Dominion of Canada, and as your other petitioner Jacob Hanham resides at Placentia and cannot attend to the administering of the affairs of the said estate, and James Hanham

Know all Men by these Presents that I, James Hanham of Rose Blanche in the Southern District of the Island of Newfoundland Fisherman do hereby constitute and appoint Robert Thomas Squarey of Channel in the said District, a Notary Public for the Island of Newfoundland, to be my true sufficient and lawful attorney ??? one and in my Name to sign all documents necessary for obtaining Probate of the Last Will and Testament of Dinah Hanham, late of Rose Blanche aforesaid, Widow, deceased, my late Mother, and of which Last Will and Testament I am appointed a Co-executor with my brother Jacob Hanham of Placentia in the said District Telegraph Operator; and after Probate shall have been obtained to sell the said Estate consisting of a Dwelling-house and fishing room situate in Rose Blanche aforesaid and at present in the occupancy of Luke Chafe, also of Rose Blanche aforesaid, Merchant. And for the purposes aforesaid, I do hereby grant unto my said Attorney full power to execute and deliver all needful instruments and papers, whether under seal or otherwise; to institute and prosecute to Final judgment and execution, all process? in law ?? in equity; to defend any and all suits against me, the Constituent, to submit any and all Matters in dispute to arbitration, or the same to settle? and compromise; to appoint one or more substitutes under him, and the same to re??ake at his pleasure and generally to do and perform all such ??? Matters and things as my said Attorney shall deem necessary or expedient for the complete
and effectual execution of the Authority herein before granted, as fully as I might - and would do if I were personally present; hereby satisfying and confirming all the Acts of my said Attorney or of his Substitutes, done by virtue and in pursuance of these presents.

A This is the last Will and Testament of me, Dinah Hanham, widow of the late John Hanham, made this Twenty Second day of February A.D. One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty four, as follows
Signed and acknowledged by the said Dinah Hanham, after being duly read and explained as and for her last will and Testament, in the presence of us, who in her presence, and at her request, and in the presence of each other, have subscribed our names as Witnesses her

SUPREME COURT OF NEWFOUNDLAND BE IT REMEMBERED That on this sixth day of September in the 52nd Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith, &c, and in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty-eight personally appeared Robert T. Squarey of Channel in the Southern District of Newfoundland, Richard H. Parsons of same place, Mercantile Agent and John E. Norman of same place, Mercantile Agent and did acknowledge themselves to be held and firmly bound to our said Lady the Queen, Her Heirs and Successors, in the penal Sum of Eight hundred and forty dollars/$840.00-- to be had, made and levied on his Goods, Chattels and Effects, jointly and severally, if Default is made in any of the conditions following :--- NOW THE CONDITION of this Obligation is such, That if the above bounden Robert T. Squarey as Administrator or cum testamento annexo - of the Estate and Effects of Dinah Hanham late of Rose Blanche, widow - deceased, do make or cause to be made, a just, true, and perfect inventory of all and singular the Goods, Credits and Effects of her the said deceased, which have or shall come to the hands, possession, or knowledge of him the said Robert T. Squarey as such Administrator or to the hands or possession of any other person, or persons, for him and the same so made do exhibit, or cause to be exhibited, into the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, at or before the sixth day of March next ensuing the date hereof; and the said Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects, and all other the Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects of the said deceased, at the time of her death, or which at any time afterwards shall come into the hands or possession of the said Robert T. Squarey or to the hands or possession of any other person or persons for him shall well and truly administer according to Law, and further shall make, or cause to be made, a just and true account of his said Administration, on or before the sixth day of September which will be in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty-nine and afterwards from time to time as he shall be lawfully required. And all the rest, residue, and remainder of the said Goods, Chattels, Credits and Effects, which shall be found remaining upon the said Administration Account, the same being examined and allowed by the said Supreme Court of Newfoundland, shall and do pay and dispose of in due course of Administration, or in such a manner as the said Court shall direct; then this obligation to be void and of no effect, or else to be and remain in full force and virtue.
