SUPREME COURT OF NEWFOUNDLAND Be it Remembered That on this 26th day of December in the 52nd Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady Victoria, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith, &c, and in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty-eight personally appeared William Myles of Saint John's in the Central District of Newfoundland, Block maker, Thomas Mitchell of the same place, Provision Merchant and Patrick Buckley of same place, Blacksmith and did acknowledge themselves to be held and firmly bound to our said Lady the Queen, Her Heirs and Successors, in the penal Sum of Four thousand two hundred dollars of good and lawful money of Newfoundland, to be had, made and levied on his Goods, Chattels and Effects, jointly and severally, if Default is made in any of the conditions following :-- Now the Condition of this Obligation is such, that if the above bounden William J. Myles shall duly and faithfully act as Guardian of the Estate and Effects of Allan, Daisy, and John Doyle of St. Johns aforesaid, Minors under the age of twenty-one years, and shall and do pay and dispose of such Estate in such a manner as the said Court shall direct; then this obligation to be void and of no effect, or else to be and remain in full force and virtue. 1888 Estate of Allan Doyle Daisy Doyle and John Doyle infant children of Letters of Guardianship Sureties, Thos Mitchell Dated 27 Dec 1888
To the Honorable the Supreme Court or one of the Honorable the judges thereof. The petition of William Myles of Saint Johns in the Island of Newfoundland Blockmaker Humbly Sheweth That Allan Doyle late of Saint Johns in the Island of Newfoundland accountant died at the above place on or about the 7th day of May now last past leaving a wife and two children surviving him, both under age. That on or about the 28th day of the same month Alice Doyle widow of the said Allan Doyle died at the above place having a ???ight previous to her death given birth to a child. That on or about the 23 day of June now last past administration to the Estate of the said Alice Doyle was granted to your petitioner That attached to the said petition is a document under which your petitioner is appointed guardian of the children of the said Alice Doyle That amongst the assets of the said Allan Doyle which has come into the hands of your petitioner as administrator of his said widow is a policy of life insurance for two thousand dollars. That the company in which the said deceased was insured namely the Mutual Life Insurance Co will not pay to the said administration the amount under the said policy which letters of guardianship are granted by this Honorable Court and your petitioner appointed as guardian for this and other purposes Petitioner therefore prays that he may be appointed guardian for the said infant children of said deceased and as in duty bound will ever pray Dated at Saint Johns this 24th day of December AD 1888 William J. Supreme Court In the matter of the Estate Upon reading the petition herein of William Doyle of Saint Johns blockmaker next ??? after said Allan, Daisy and John Doyle and ??? of the same administration of the Estate of Allan Doyle father of the said infants and the affidavit thereto annexed and upon hearing Jn? Morris of counsel for the said Allan, Daisy and John Doyle and the said William Myles ??? I do ??? that the said William Myles be appointed the guardian of the Estate of the said Allan, Daisy and John Doyle a???ing their minority and that the costs of this application may be ???d as ??? solicitor and client and that the said William Myles may retain the same and pay it out of any moneys of the said infant which may come to his hands.
