I do swear that I believe John Clance late of Brigus deceased died without a Will; and that I will well and truly administer all and every the goods of the said deceased and pay his Debts so far as his Goods will extend; and that I will exhibit a true, full, and perfect Inventory of the said Goods of the deceased, and render a true account of his Administration into the Registry of the said Court within Six months from the date hereof, or when I shall be thereunto lawfully required; and that the whole of the goods, rights, chattels, assets, credits and effects of the said deceased which he died possessed of, within the jurisdiction of this Court, do not, according to the best of my knowledge, judgement and belief, amount to the value of three hundred and seventy five dollars -----

Supreme Court of Newfoundland BE IT REMEMBERED, That on this first day of November in the fifty second Year of the Reign of Our Sovereign Lady Victoria, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith, &c, and in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty Eight personally appeared Bridget Kelly of Brigus Widow James Kelly of the same place fisherman and James Burke of same place fisherman and did acknowledge themselves to be held and firmly bound to our said Sovereign Lady the Queen, Her Heirs and Successors, in the penal Sum of Seven hundred dollars to be had, made, and levied on their Goods, Chattels, and Effects jointly and severally if default is made in any of the Conditions following: ----- Signed and Sealed in the ) her
To the Honorable the Supreme Court or the Honorable the Judge of the Supreme Court on the Northern Circuit. The Petition of Bridget Kough at Present of Brigus Conception Bay widow Humbly Showeth as follows. That John Clance late of Brigus aforesaid was lost at Sea in the month of October AD 1847. That deceased left behind him no will That deceased left him surviving four children. viz. Ellen Patrick Margaret That deceased was possessed of property within the jurisdiction of the Honorable Court of the probable value ----- now of about three hundred and fifty dollars That no administration to the said estate has as yet been granted to any person Petitioner therefore prays that administration to the Estate and effects of said deceased may be granted to her and as in duty bound she will ever pray.
