William Butler Estate of William Butler 1887 NEWFOUNDLAND, } In the Supreme Court, } AFFIDAVIT. You shall swear that you believe this to ne the true last Will and Testament of William Butler late of Robin Hood Trinity Bay in the Northern District of Newfoundland Planter deceased You shall swear that you will pay all the Debts and Legacies of the deceased, so far as the Goods shall extend and the Law shall bind you ; and that you will exhibit a true, full, and perfect Inventory of all and every the Goods, Rights and Credits of the deceased, together with a just and true account, into the Registry of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, when you shall be lawfully called thereto : And you shall further swear that the whole of the Goods, Rights, Chattels, Assets, Credits and Effects ??? of the said William Butler deceased, and of which he died pos-sessed, do not, according to the best of your knowledge, judgment and belief, amount to the value of Four thousand dollars So help you GOD. To The Petition of George Guppy of Ships' Cove and Stephen Day of Middleton's Beach _ Trinity Bay. Humbly sheweth That William Butler late of Robin Hood Trinity Bay. Planter died on the second day of February last leaving him surviving his widow May Butler and Four sons and Three Daughters. All of full age _ That the said deceased at the time of his death left land Houses and monies of the probable value of Four Thousand Dollars _ and that at the time of his death he had a fixed place of abode within the Page 2 jurisdiction of this Honorable

A This the last Will and Testament of Mr William Butler of Robin Hood, Trinity Bay in the Island of Newfoundland .
Planter, which I do ??? publish ??? the ??? ?? follows
being of Sound mind but weak in body, and ??ing fully
that my term of life is nearly ended, the??? ??? and
distribute my Estate All my ??? ??? ???
?dered as divided into Five parts ???. Four parts will
be the property of my four sons, John Butler, William Butler , Alexander Butler and Israel Butler. My wife Mary Butler holding, and to hold, the fifth part. therein for the term of her
natural life _ The Dwelling House in which I now reside
with my wife, Mary Butler, and also occupied by my daughter Alice Butler, and her child Rhoda Butler, they will and
are to remain possession of the same for the term of their
natural life, or their being, otherwise provided for, but in the
event of their dying or being otherwise provided for ???
aforesaid, the Dwelling House now occupied by my
sons Israel Butler, and also the property in which she
lives are to be retained by my last mentioned son . And
further, I do herein order and direct that in case of and,
or either of my aforesaid Son's dying : their wives remaining
single ! may remain on the property as long as they please
but should they marry again the property or premises which
they ??? hold must revert to "my" Butler family !!!_ It is my
intention and order that all lands and property herein mentioned
shall not be escheated for indebitedness. Page 2 out of this my last Will and Testament I do hereby ??? and appoint. my ??? friends George Guppy of Ships Cove, Planter and Gber ????ole Middletons Beach, as my executors to this my last will and testament.

B Supreme Court of Newfoundland Northern District } The other subscribing witness thereto. That Deponent and said George Guppy then signed their names to such Will as such witnesses, in the presence of the said Testator and of each other. That previously to the said Will being so signed as aforesaid, by the said Testator and the said witnesses, it was read over to and approved of by the said Testator in the presence of Deponent and the said George Guppy and that at the time of the said execution of the said Will the said Testator was of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, to the best of Deponent's knowledge and belief.
