The Petition of Elizabeth Brown Salter of Saint John's, Widow of William T. Salter, deceased, and Robert J. Chancey of Saint John's, Draper, Guardian of certain of the children of said William T. Salter, deceased,

Humbly Sheweth

That the said William T. Salter died at Saint John's in the month of December A.D. 1885 intestate, leaving him surviving his Widow (one of your Petitioners) and eight children.
That six of the said children, namely Cornelia Elizabeth, Elizabeth Brown, Lucretia Martha, William T., Albert H. and Julia Agnes, were at the time of the death of said William T. Salter under the age of twenty one years and Letters of Guardianship of their Estates were duly granted to the said Petitioner Robert J. Chancey.
That the said children were entitled to a sum of five hundred dollars, being their share of a certain Policy of Insurance upon the life of their said Father.
That one of the said children, namely Cornelia Elizabeth, has attained the age of twenty one years and has been paid her share of said amount.
That the said Petitioner, Elizabeth B. Salter, is unable to support and maintain the said children as she is now in destitute circumstances and obliged to depend upon the proceeds of her own and her childrens labour for her means of support.
Petitioners therefore pray that the said Guardian may be authorized to apply and expend the amounts due to the said children in and towards their support, maintenance and education.
And as in duty bound they will ever pray &c.
Dated at Saint John's this ninth day of May A.D. 1888.
