The Petition of Philip O'Neill of Saint John's, Planter

Humbly Sheweth

That Richard O'Neill, son of deceased, left Saint John's in the Schooner Argartine "Cleta" bound to West Indies on the third day of March AD 1883; that the said Argartine has never since been heard of and petitioner verily believes that the said vessel was lost at sea with the Captain and all the crew of the said vessel.
That said Richard O'Neill did not make any last Will and Testament and as petitioner verily believes died intestate and was at the time of his leaving St. John's as aforesaid unmarried
That said deceased at the time of his death was possessed of property of the probable value of fifteen hundred dollars.
Petitioner therefore prays that Letters of Administration of the Estate and Effects of said Richard O'Neill may be granted to petitioner
And as in duty bound, petitioner will ever pray.
