or one of the Honourable the Judges
of the said Court

The petition of Hezekiah Benson of St. Jones, South West Arm in Random Sound, in Trinity Bay, in the Island of Newfoundland, planter.

Humbly Sheweth

That William Cooper, late of Ingleman's Forest in the North West Arm of Random Sound in Trinity Bay aforesaid, mill owner, departed this life on or about the seventh day of April last, having previously made his last Will and testament of which he appointed your Petitioner and Eliah Robbins, of St. Jones aforesaid, Planter, Executors.
That the said William Cooper left him surviving his Widow Charity and three sons viz John, since deceased, Henry Thomas and Abraham.
That the said William Cooper was at the time of his decease possessed of property in this Island of a probable value not exceeding, in the opinion of your petitioners the sum of six hundred dollars.
That no Letters of Administration have been granted to the Estate of the said William Cooper.
Your petitioner therefore prays that Letters of Probate to the Will of the said William Cooper may be granted to your petitioner and the said Eliah Robbins and as in duty bound will ever pray.

Notice

After three days from the date hereof application will be made to the Supreme Court or any of the Judges of the said Court for Letters of Probate to the Will of the late William Cooper late of Inglewood Forest, in the North West Arm of Random Sound, Trinity Bay, to be granted to Hezekiah Benson and Eliah Robbins, the Executors named in said Will.

The last Will and Testament of Mr. William Cooper, Millowner, of Inglewood Forest, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland.

In the Name of God, Amen.

I, William Cooper, Millowner of Inglewood Forest, being at present in perfect soundness of mind, appoint this my last Will and Testament.
My soul I commend to Almighty God who gave (edge of page missing) and my property I dispose of in the manner foll??.

My half of the Mill I bequeath to George Cooper and John Cooper, Sons of Henry Thomas and Casandra Cooper. The large meadow on the Western side of the Brook, I bequeath to George Cooper, Son of Henry Thomas Cooper. And all the remaining proper land that I possess in Inglewood Forest I leave to be divided equally between George and John, Sons of Henry Thomas Cooper. And it is my will that all my

cattle shall be divided between George and John, Sons of Henry Thomas Cooper and they are to give a calf to William Rolland Cooper, Son of Henry Thomas and Roxana Cooper and also a calf to be given to Roxana Cooper. My large gun I bequeath to William Rolland Cooper, Son of Henry Thomas Cooper. My red gun nipple wrench and ball mould I bequeath to George, Son of Henry Thomas Cooper. To John, son of Henry Thomas Cooper, I bequeath my Music Box.
My clothes box and arm chair, I bequeath to William Henry, Son of John Cooper. My dwelling house and kitchen garden I bequeath to George, Son of Henry Thomas Cooper. Also it is my will that my spare bed over the parlour shall remain there until the said George Cooper shall feel disposed to marry and come in the house to possess it. The other two beds are to be left to my wife Charity Cooper to be disposed of as she will. All my tools are to be left to Henry Thomas Cooper ???? his sons to be used when required. To Daniel Cooper, Son of Absolom, I bequeath one sovereign. All my remaining household property I leave to my wife Chastity Cooper to be disposed of by her at her will. Should she out live me, and in case she should, it is my will that she shall be supported comfortable off my property as she has been heretofore.
And I do here appoint that it is my desire that Hezekiah Benson and Eliah Robins be my Executors to see this my last Will fulfilled.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this ninth day of March One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty Five.

SUPREME COURT OF NEWFOUNDLAND

ST. JOHN'S }
TO WIT       }
Hezekiah Benson of St. Jones in the South West Arm of Random Sound in Trinity Bay in the Island of Newfoundland, Planter maketh oath and saith that on the ninth day of March A.D. one thousand eight hundred and eighty five at Inglewood Forest in North West Arm of Random Sound in Trinity Bay aforesaid he, this Deponent, was present and did see William Cooper late of Inglewood Forest aforesaid the Testator named in the paper writing hereunto annexed duly sign (by making his mark) publish and declare the said annexed paper writing as and for his last Will and Testament, in the presence of this Deponent and of Eliah Robbins, Charles Clinch and Rose Elizabeth Cooper the other subscribing witnesses thereto. That Deponent and said Eliah Robbins, Charles Clinch and Rose Elizabeth Cooper (the said Charles Clinch by printing his mark) then signed their names to such Will as such witnesses, in the presence of the said Testator and of each other -That previously to the said Will being so signed as aforesaid, by the said Testator and the said witnesses, it was read over to, and approved of by the said Testator in the presence of Deponent and the said Eliah Robbins, Clinch and Rose Elizabeth Cooper and that at the time of the said execution of the said Will the said Testator was of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, to the best of Deponent's knowledge and belief.

You shall swear that you believe this to be the true Last Will and Testament of William Cooper late of Inglewood Forest in North West Arm of Random Sound in Trinity Bay in the Northern District, Mill owner, deceased.

You shall swear that you will pay all the Debts and Legacies of the Deceased, so far as the Goods shall extend and the Law shall bind you; and that you will exhibit a true, full and perfect Inventory of all and every the Goods, Rights and Credits of the deceased, together with a just and true account into the Registry of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, when you shall be lawfully called thereto: And you shall further swear that the whole of the Goods, Rights, Chattels, Assets, Credits and Effects of the said William Cooper, deceased, and of which he died possessed, do not, according to the best of your knowledge, judgment and belief, amount to the value of six hundred and fifty Dollars.

So help you God.
