Supreme Court of Newfoundland Be it Remembered, That on this Twentieth day of October in the Forty ninth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady VICTORIA, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith, &c., and in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty five personally appeared Richard Thomas Nurse of Halifax, Nova Scotia but at present of Saint Johns Newfoundland Cooper, John Tinnicombe of St Johns aforesaid Pilot and Samuel Ryan of St Johns aforesaid Pilot and did acknowledge themselves to be held and firmly bound to our said Lady the Queen, Her Heirs and Successors, in the penal Sum of Two Thousand six hundred Dollars, to be had, made and levied on their Goods, Chattels and Effects, jointly and severally, if Default is made in any of the conditions following: NOW THECONDITION OF THIS OBLIGATION IS SUCH, that if the above bounden Richard Thomas Signed and sealed } Richard T. Nurse (Note: Seals affixed to the right of the three signatures.)
Notice Three days from the date hereof application will be made to the Hon-orable the Supreme Court or one of the Honourable the Judges thereof for Letters of Administration to the Estate and Effects of Honora Nurse late of Halifax N.S. deceased to be granted to Richard Nurse son of the said deceased _____ St. John's October
Certificate I hereby certify that the notice on the other side written was posted in the office of the Chief Clerk and Registrar on the day of the date thereof and that no caveat or other objection has been entered thereto. Dated this 19th day of October AD 1885 Otto Emerson
To the Honorable the The petition of Richard Thomas Nurse of Halifax Nova Scotia Cooper but at present of St. John's Newfound-land Humbly Sheweth That Honora Nurse late of Halifax in the Province of Nova Scotia died intestate at that place on the twen-tieth day of April A.D. 1885 leaving her surviving two children named respectively Richard Thomas your petitioner and Mary (wife of Daniel Scanlan) all residents of Halifax aforesaid. That the said Honora Nurse was at the time of her decease possess-ed of property in this Colony real and personal of the probable value of Twelve Hundred Dollars That Page 2 That no administration has been taken out(?) the estate and ef-fects of which the said deceased died possessed in this Colony. Your petitioner therefore prays that administration to the estate and effects of the said deceased in this Colony may be granted unto him. And as in duty bound he will ever pray. Richard Thomas Nurse
