After Three Days from date application will be made to one of The Honorable The Judges of the Supreme Court for Probate of the will of John Nowlan late of Brigus - Conception Bay - Dealer - to be granted to Ellen Nowlan of Brigus - Widow - Sole Executrix under said will -

The Petition of Ellen Nowlan of Brigus - Conception Bay - Widow.

Humbly Sheweth

          That your Petitioners late Husband John Nowlan of Brigus aforesaid - died on the Twentieth day of March last leaving him surviving your Petitioner - but no children.
          That the said deceased John Nowlan at the time of his death was possessed of property money and Effects of the probable value of Two Thousand Dollars -
          That the said John Nowlan deceased - left a Will which is hereunto annexed marked A - which said Will has been proven in due form of Law by the Affidavit of John Hearn of Brigus aforesaid which Affidavit is also hereto annexed

marked B - That in and under said Will your Petitioner was appointed Sole Executrix - That no Probate or Administration has as yet been taken out to the said Estate -
          Your Petitioner Therefore prays that Probate of said will of said John Nowlan - deceased - may be granted to her upon giving the usual security and as in duty bound she will Ever pray -

John Hearn of Brigus Farmer maketh Oath and Saith that on the twenty third day of December AD 1884 he this Deponent was present and did see John Nowlan, late of Brigus, the Testator named in the paper writing hereunto annexed duty sign seal publish and declare the Said annexed paper writing as for his last Will and Testament in the presence of this Deponent and Patrick Nowlan the other subscribing Witness thereto that Deponent and Said Patrick Nowlan then and there signed their names to Such will as each Witness in the presence of the said Testator and of each other, and that at the time of the Execution of Said Will The said Testator was of sound and disposing Mind Memory and understanding to the best of this Deponents Knowledge and belief -

This is my last Will & Testament
John Nowlan hereby dispose of all the worldly Estate to me belonging in manner following Viz: 1st I will & bequeath to my Wife Ellen Nowlan the whole & entire of the Estate of the late John Carmody(?) with all & everything to Same Estate belonging 2nd I will & bequeath to my Wife Ellen Nowlan one half of my undivided Shares of the Estates of my late Father, Jeremiah Nowlan & of my late Mother Mary Nowlan respective-ly & also I will & bequeath to my Wife Ellen Nowlan the whole section of My undivided Share of the estates of John Kehoe & Magdalene Kehoe respectively 3rd I will & bequeath to my Sister Alice Nowlan the Second half of my undivided shares of the Estates of my late Father Jeremiah Nowlan & of my late Mother Mary Nowlan 4th I will & bequeath all & whatsoever else of worldly estate that I possess to my wife Ellen Nowlan 5th I hereby name & appoint My wife Ellen Nowlan as Sole Executrix of this my last will and testament & I hereby declare this to be my last will and testament Signed Sealed & delivered this Twenty third day of December A.D. 1884 in presence of

You shall swear that you believe this to be the true last Will and Testament of John Nowlan late of Brigus in Conception Bay Northern District Dealer deceased

You shall swear that you will pay all the Debts and Legacies of the Deceased, so far as the Goods shall extend and the Law shall bind you; and that you will exhibit a true, full, and perfect Inventory of all and every the Goods, Rights and Credits of the deceased, together with a just and true account into the Registry of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, when you shall lawfully be called thereto: And you shall further swear that the whole of the Goods, Rights, Chattels, Assets, Credits and Effects of the said John----------- Nowlan--------------- deceased, and of which he died possessed, do not, according to the best of your knowledge, judgment and belief, amount to the value of Two thousand two hundred Dollars
