You shall swear that you believe this to be the true last Will and Testament of John Neville late of Greenspond in the Northern District Master Mariner deceased -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You shall swear that you will pay all the Debts and Legacies of the deceased, so far as the Goods shall extend and the Law shall bind you; and that you will exhibit a true, full, and perfect Inventory of all and every the Goods, Rights and Credits of the deceased, together with a just and true account, into the Registry of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, when you shall be lawfully called thereto: And you shall further swear that the whole of the Goods, Rights, Chattels, Assets, Credits and Effects of the said John Neville ---------------- deceased, and of which he died pos-sessed, do not, according to the best of your knowledge, judgment and belief, amount to the value of Twelve hundred -------------------------------------------------------- dollars

So help you GOD.

          This is the last Will and Testament of me John Neville, Master Mariner, formerly of West Morden, Dorsetshire, England, and now of Greenspond in the Norther District of the Island of Newfoundland.

          I hereby revoke all Wills by me at any time heretofore made. I appoint John Randall Hoskins, of Greenspond aforesaid my Executor, and devise that all my just debts and decent funeral expenses, shall be paid as soon as conveniently may be after my decease.

          I give, devise and bequeath unto Mary Anne Starks, wife of John Starks, of Greenspond, aforesaid Fisherman, for her own sole use and benefit - and to John Randall Hoskins of Greenspond, aforesaid; all my real and personal property, of which I die possessed may be legally due to me, and hereafter recovered and received by my said Executor, John Randall Hoskins, the following proportions or divisions - that is to say; Two-third share of all to the above named Mary Anne Starks together with my Bed and Bedding and a Framed Looking Glass or Mirror --- and One-third share of all to the above named John Randall Hoskins together with my Writing-desk, Watch and Barometer for his own Sole use and benefit

Samuel Baird of Greenspond aforesaid Justice of the Peace maketh oath and saith that on the first day of October Anno Domini Eighteen hundred and eighty four at Greenspond aforesaid he this deponent was present and did see John Neville the testator named in the paper writing hereto annexed duly sign by making his mark publish and declare the same as and for his last will and testament in the presence of this deponent and of John C Dominy the other subscribing witness thereto. That before so signing the said paper writing as aforesaid the same was read over and explained to the said testator in the presence of deponent and of said John C Dominy That deponent and the said John C Dominy then and there subscribed their names to the said paper writing as such witnesses in the presence of the said testator and of each other all present at the same time That the said testator at the time he so signed and published the said paper

          The petition of John Randall Hoskins of Greenspond in the Northern District fisherman

Humbly Sheweth

          That John Neville late of Greenspond aforesaid Master Mariner deceased died on or about the Eighteenth day of June last past with a will which is hereunto annexed marked A

          That at the time of the decease of the said John Neville he was possessed of effects of the probable value of one Thousand dollars.

          That your petitioner was by the will of the said late John Neville appoint-ed Executor thereof

          That no letters of probate or administration of the Estate of the said late John Neville have been granted
