AFFIDAVIT.
----------

You shall swear that you believe this to be the Last Will and Testament of Adam Martin late of Saint John's in the Central District Ships carpenter deceased ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You shall swear that you will pay all the Debts and Legacies of the Deceased; so far as the Goods shall extend and the Law shall bind you; and that you will exhibit a true, full and perfect Inventory of all and every the Goods, Rights and Credits of the deceased, together with a just and true account into the Registry of the Su-preme Court of Newfoundland, when you shall be lawfully called there: And you shall further swear that the whole of the Goods, Rights, Chattles, Assets, Credits and Effects of the said Adam Martin ------------ Deceased, and of which he died possessed, do not, according to the best of your knowledge, judgment and belief, amount to the value of one thousand seven hundred ------------- Dollars.

This is the last Will and Testament of me Adam Martin of St. John's - Ships-Carpenter -
          I give devise and bequeath to my Wife Amelia Martin her Executors --- Administrators and Assigns All lands Houses property monies mining Interests and Effects and personal property of Every description that I may die possessed of - for her sole and absolute disposal - and I appoint my said Wife Amelia Martin - Sole Executrix under this my last Will and Testament -

to wit          } in The Island of Newfoundland - Queens Counsel maketh oath and saith that on the Twenty fourth day of April A.D. one thousand Eight hundred and Eighty five at St. John's aforesaid he this Deponent was present and did see Adam Martin late of St. John's aforesaid The Testator named in the Paper writing hereto annexed duly sign publish and declare The said annexed paper writing as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of this Deponent and of Arthur Clift the other subscribing Witness Thereto - and There signed Their names to such Will as such Witnesses in The presence of The said Testator and of Each other - and That at The time of The said execution of The said Will The said Testator was of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding to The best of Deponent's knowledge and belief -

Humbly Sheweth

          That your Petitioner's late Husband Adam Martin of St. John's - Ships' - Carpenter died at St. John's on the Fourteenth day of November Instant leaving him surviving his Widow (your Petitioner and Four Sons and one Daughter -
          That the said deceased (Adam Martin) made a Will, which has been proven in due form on The Affidavit of Augustus O. Hayward of St. John's - Queen's Counsel - which said Will and proof are hereto annexed marked A and B respectively - the said Augustus O. Hayward being one of the subscribing Witnesses to said Will -

          That The said deceased at The time of his death was possessed of property monies and Effects of The probable value of Sixteen Hundred Dollars ---
          That your Petitioner is the Sole Legatee and Executrix in and under said Will.
          That no Probate or Administration has as yet been taken out to the said Estate ---

          Your Petitioner Therefore prays That Probate to said Will may be granted to her - and as in duty bound she will Ever pray -----
