Supreme Court of Newfoundland Be it Remembered, That on this First day of May in the Forty Eighth Year of the Reign of our
Sovereign Lady VICTORIA, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith, &c., and in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty five personally appeared Patrick Lynch of St John's in the Central Disrict Wheelwright, John Colman of Same place Carpenter and Hugh Dorothy of Same place Engineer and did acknowledge themselves to be held and firmly bound to our said Lady the Queen, Her Heirs and Successors, in the penal Sum of Two thousand four hundred --------------------------------------------------- Dollars, to be had, made and levied on the Goods, Chattels and Effects, jointly and severally, if Default is made in any of the conditions following:----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Signed and sealed }

To The Honorable The Supreme Court of Newfoundland The Petition of Patrick Lynch of St Johns Wheelwright Humbly Sheweth That Mary Lynch formerly of St Johns aforesaid Widow died at St Johns in the said Island on or about the fourth day of March last past intestate and possessed of property situate within the Jurisdiction of this Honorable Court of the probable value of about One thousand dollars. That she left her surviving as her only next of Kin two children namely Your petitioner who is a resident of this Colony and one other son named John who is a seaman and who left this Country for New York a short time ago with the intention as Your petitioner believes of residing there. That before the said John left this Colony he assented to Your petitioner's taking out administration to the estate of the said deceased in his own name. That no probate or administration to the Estae of the said deceased has been hither to granted Petitioner therefore prays that administration to the estate and Effects of the said Mary Lynch deceased may be granted unto him and do in duty bound he will ever pray &c &c &c Dated at St Johns the twenty fifth day of April ----- A.D. 1885
