Certificate. I hereby Certify that the Notice on the other side hereof written has been posted in my Office from the day of the date thereof to this date and that no Caveat or other objection thereto has been filed or entered Dated at St. John's this 2nd day of October Anno Domini 1885 Otto Emerson
Notice. After three days from the date hereof application will be made to the Honorable the Supreme Court or to one of the Honorable the Judges thereof for Probate of the Will of Letters of Administration of the Estate and effects of Lucy Ann Kough formerly of Tilton Harbor deceased to be granted to James Kough of same place. Dated at St. John's this 29th day of September Anno Domini 1885
To The Honorable the Supreme Court of Newfoundland or any one of the Honorable the Judges thereof The Petition of James Kough of Tilton Harbor in the Northern District of the said Island Planter Humbly sheweth That Lucy Anne Kough formerly of Tilton Harbor aforesaid died there on or about the eighteenth day of May last past intestate and leaving her surviving Your Petitioner who was her husband and three Children the issue of the marriage of the said intestate with your petitioner. That the said children are all under the age of twenty one years and reside with your Petitioner. That said intestate died possessed of property situate within the Jurisdiction of this honorable Court of the probable value of about Eight hundred and thirty two dollars. That no probate or administration to her estate has been hitherto granted Petitioner therefor prays that administration to the estate of his said deceased wife may be granted unto him and as in duty bound he will ever pray &c &c &c Dated at S. Supreme Court of Newfoundland Be it Remembered, That on this third day of October in the Forty ninth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady VICTORIA, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Queen, Defender of the Faith, &c., and in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty five personally appeared James Keough of Tilton in the Northern District of the Island aforesaid Planter, James Callahan of Saint Johns Grocer and Patrick Kennedy of same place Tailor and did acknowledge themselves to be held and firmly bound to our said Lady the Queen, Her Heirs andSuccessors, in the penal Sum of One thousand seven hundred Dollars, to be had, made and levied on their Goods, Chattels and Effects, jointly and severally, if Default is made in any of the conditions following: NOW THE CONDITION. OF THIS OBLIGATION IS SUCH, that if the above bounden James Keough as Administrator of the Estate and Effects of Lucy Ann Keough late of Tilton aforesaid Signed and sealed } (Note: Seals affixed to the right of the signatures.)
