The Estate of Richard Green 1828 Estate of Richard Wenman? Green Supreme Court of Newfoundland Saint Johns to wit. Sophia Green Sworn at Saint Johns the Fourth day of July in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty eight George Washington Busteed * * *
Be it Remembered, That on this Fourth day of July in the Ninth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Fourth by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, &c. and in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and twenty eight personally appeared Sophia Green widow, John Stark, Clerk of the Northern Circuit Court and John Terrington Esquire and ????? Storekeeper and did acknowledge themselves to be held and firmly bound to our Sovereign Lord the King his Heirs and Successors, in the penal Sum of Fourteen Hundred Pounds of good and lawful Money of Great Britain, to be had, made, and levied on their Goods, Chattels, and Effects jointly and severally if Default is made in any of the Conditions following: Now the Condition of this Obligation is such, That if the above bounded Sophia Green Administratrix to the Intestate Estate of Richard Wenman Green Esq late Fort Major at Saint Johns deceased, do make, or cause to be made, a just, true and perfect Inventory of all and singular, the Goods, Credits, and Effects of the said deceased, which have or shall come to the hands, possession, or knowledge of her the said Sophia Green Or to the hands or possession of any other person or persons, for her and the same so made do exhibit, or cause to be exhibited, into the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, at or before the First day of July next ensuing the date hereof; and the said Goods, Chattels, Credits, and Effects, and all other the Goods, Chattels, Credits, and Effects of the said deceased, at the time of his death, or which at any time afterwards shall come to the hands or possession of her the said Sophia Green or to the hands or possession of any other person or persons for her shall well and truly administer according to Law, and further shall make, or cause to be made, a just and true Account of their said Administration, on or before the First day of July which will be in the Year of our Lord One Thousand and Eight Hundred and Twenty nine and afterwards from time to time as she shall be lawfully required. And all the rest, residue, and remainder of the said Goods, Chattels, Credits, and Effects, which shall be found remaining upon the said Administration Account, the same being first examined and allowed by the said Supreme Court of Newfoundland, shall and do pay and dispose of in a due course of Administration, or in such manner as the said Court shall direct; -then this Obligation to be void and of no effect or else to be and remain full force and virtue. I hereby request that the Honorable the Supreme Court will be pleased to grant Administration to the Intestate Estate of Fort Major Green, to my mother Sophia Margaret Green Dated at Harbor Grace this 30th June 1828 I the undersigned do also request that Administration to the Intestate Estate of my late father Fort Major Green may be granted to my mother Sophia Margaret Green Dated at St Johns this 2nd July 1828 * * *
To the Honorable Edward Brabazon Brenton Esquire Humbly Sheweth That Richard Wenmane Green Esquire Fort Major at this place your Memorialists Husband died on the first day of April last past without leaving any will - that the deceased left property within the Colony of Newfoundland of the value of under Seven -Hundred Pounds- your Memorialist therefore Humbly prayd that that administration to the Estate of the dec'd Intestate may be granted to your Memorialist Any your Memorialist as in duty bound will ever pray Sophia Green Transcriber's note: title page is written as "Newman" however throughout the document itself the name appears to be Wenman
