Will of Richard Dunn
from Newfoundland will books volume 10 pages 511-512 probate year 1917

In re
      Richard Dunn          deceased.

      This is the last will and Testament of me Richard Dunn of Topsail Road District of St. John’s West in the County of Newfoundland made this Fourth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and sixteen    I hereby revoke all wills made by me at any time heretofore. I appoint Henry John Cowan of Topsail Road, Dist. St. John’s West N.F. and John Dooley of Topsail Road Dist. St. John’s West N.F. both farmers to be my Executors, and direct that any my debts and funeral expenses shall be paid as soon as conveniently may be after my decease. I give and bequeath unto my wife Elizabeth Dunn during her life all my property (excepting that piece of land on which my son Richard has a dwelling house built) dwelling house barn and live stock and farming utensils; after the death of my wife.
I give and bequeath unto my sons Richard and Henry all that piece or parcel of land bounded as follows on the North by Topsail Road from Nash’s West boundary to the gateway about midway on the Topsail Rd frontage bounded on the west by a straight line running from the gate aforesaid to the stone wall thence east by said stone wall to Nashs boundary and bounded on the east by Nash’s boundary fence
unto my son William all that piece of land bounded on the north by the aforesaid lot of land which I have bequeathed to Richard and Henry also bounded by Topsail Road and the piece of land on which my son Richard has a dwelling house built as aforesaid, bounded on the west by Roadway leading to Mount Pearl farm, on the south by Waterford river on the east by Nash’s farm
unto my son Richard I bequeath that piece of land bounded on the north by Topsail Road on the west by Roadway leading to Mount Pearl farm on the south by a line twenty feet north of the back of my house, on the east by a line 20 feet parallel with the east side of said Richards dwelling house. This piece of land last described is to become my son Richard’s property after my death.
Unto my three sons John, Edward and Patrick all that piece or parcel of land situate on Topsail Road, bounded as follows, north by said Topsail Road, west by Nash’s farm, south by Waterford river, and east by Brookfield farm the said piece of land, which contains about 17¾ acres is to be divided with equal frontage on Topsail Road.
My daughter Margaret Dunn is to have a home in my house while she remains unmarried. Richard his X mark Dunn    J. Holden Signed by the said Testator Richard his X mark Dunn in the presence of us, present at the same time, who at his request in his presence, and in the presence of each other, have subscribed our names as witnesses
