Will of Edward Dunn from Newfoundland will books volume 5 pages 70-71 probate year 1886

Last will and Testament of
Edward Dunn of St. John's
Shipwright

In the name of God Amen. I Edward Dunn of St. John's Newfoundland Shipwright do hereby make and declare this to be my last will and Testament heretofore revoking all former last wills and Testaments by me at any time heretofore made And first as I don't owe any monies myself I desire my executors hereinafter named to pay all funeral testamentary or other debts contracted by them as such executors.

Secondly I give all the monies of which I die possessed unto my executors to be paid by them unto the Roman Catholic Bishop and priests of the parish of St. John's for masses for the repose of the souls of myself and wife in equal proportions. The Rev. Fr. Vereker of Ferryland to be included with the Bishop & clergy of St. John's in the shares.
Thirdly I desire my executors as to them may seem fit to either sell out my interest in the house at present occupied by me and also the two tenements under same roof or to release the same if it may be done so satisfactorily. The proceeds of such sale should it take place to be given to the Roman Catholic Bishop of St. John's for church purposes. If leased then the annual rent derivable therefrom after the payment of insurance therein and water rates if any to be paid unto the Roman Catholic Bishop for the time being of Saint John's. I desire that out of the approaching half years rental due May 1st 1885 my executors shall have a High Mass celebrated for the repose of the souls of myself and wife in the Cathedral of St. John's
I give and bequeath unto the Rev. Lawrence Vereker Parish Priest of Ferryland the best of three silver watches in my possession.

I desire my executors to sell all bedding bed and all other furniture proceeds to be given for Masses as above. I desire the all my clothing shall be given to such poor persons as my executors may think in need of them.

I hereby appoint James Sutton and John T. Fitzpatrick both of Saint John's my executors
In witness whereof I the Testator have hereunto set my hand this third day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eight five. This will has been read over for the Testator previous to signing. Edward his x mark Dunn
Signed and declared by the Testator as and for his last will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses the day and date above written. David Kenny. Michael his x mark Kavanagh
