Will of George Donding
from Newfoundland will books volume 1 pages 218 & 219 probate year 1836

In re
     George Donding       deceased.

In the name of God Amen. I George Donding of Milburnport in the County of Dorsetshire England but late of Merasheen Newfoundland being weak in body and of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul to the Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate which it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form
First I give and bequeath to my loving son George Best of Isle Valen Newfoundland he is to have and to hold after my death is completed all the property that I possess in the Harbour of Little Merasheen that is to say all belonging to a fishing room with all the appurantusis belonging here to now in the possession of Samuel Kough the said George Best is to receive after my death the yearly rent that that is paid to me by said Samuel Kough and further I bequeath to the said George Best the property that I hold in England in Henstrutash in the County of Somerset at the death of my beloved wife Martha Donding which said property she holds at present and after the death of said Martha Donding Alias Best the said property shall legally belong to the said George Best I also constitute make and ordain the said George Best my sole executor of this my last will and testament all and singular my whole property in Newfoundland and England by him freely to be possessed and enjoyed And I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former testaments wills legacies bequests and executors by me or my before named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament
I witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 3rd day of September in year of Lord 1832. George his x mark Donding.
Signed sealed and pronounced and declared by the said George Donding as his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence and of each other have hereunto subscribed our names. John Moore Junor. John Movell.

Note: The wills in those will books are NOT actual wills. They are hand-written copies of a, "last will and testament," written by the court clerk, after the death of the testator, when the executor presented them to the court for probate. The court clerk didn't list the signatures at the bottom, he (or she) just put them in the book in whatever order they were in, on the original document, no spacing most of the time, no punctuation. The originals were kept by the executor.

We who have typed these wills, have made every effort to include all the errors that were on the microfilm, in order to avoid destroying the integrity of the originals, where ever they may be.
