A Collection of Newfoundland Wills
Donald Dingwell

Will of Donald Dingwell
from Newfoundland will books volume 12 page 267 probate year 1922
(Please note that in the will book the corner of the page is torn off, and as a result the page number from the page beneath shows, so instead of page 267 it reads 269. It is not 269, it is 267)

This is the last Will and Testament of me, Donald Dingwell of Channel, in the Electoral District of Burgeo and LaPoile, in the Island of Newfoundland, Carpenter. I give, devise and bequeath all my real and personal estate of every description unto my wife Sarah Jane Dingwell absolutely. And I appoint Aaron Forsey of Port Aux Basques, in the said Electoral District, Hotel Keeper, sole Executor of this my Will and revoke all previous Wills by me at any time heretofore made, and declare this writing to be my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand this Twenty third day of February, in the year of Our Lord One thousand nine hundred and Fifteen. DONALD his X mark DINGWALL
Signed by the said Donald Dingwall the Testator by making his mark thereto in the presence of us; that previously to the said will being so signed by the said Testator it was read over to and approved by the said Testator in the presence of us who, in his presence and in the presence of each other at the same time subscribe our names as witnesses. Albert Boor Channel NF Shop Keeper.     Robert T. Squarey. Channel N.F. Magistrate.

William F. Lloyd
Registrar of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland

(Listed in the Margin next to this will the following)
Fiat Sept 28/22
Horwood C.J.
Adm. C. T. A.
granted to
John Dingwall
Sept 28/22
Estate sworn
at $800.00

Note: The wills in those will books are NOT actual wills. They are hand-written copies of a, "last will and testament," written by the court clerk, after the death of the testator, when the executor presented them to the court for probate. The court clerk didn't list the signatures at the bottom, he (or she) just put them in the book in whatever order they were in, on the original document, no spacing most of the time, no punctuation. The originals were kept by the executor.

We who have typed these wills, have made every effort to include all the errors that were on the microfilm, in order to avoid destroying the integrity of the originals, where ever they may be.
