Will of Joseph Bulley Dicks
from Newfoundland will books volume 5 page 612 probate year 1892

The will of Joseph Bulley Dicks (1818-1892), sailmaker of St. John's. Joseph Bulley was the son of John Dicks, Sr., sailmaker, and Mary Corbett Dicks of St. John's. Joseph Bulley Dicks died February 28, 1892 (as given on his certificate of death, registered March 31, 1892).

This is the last will and testament of me, Joseph Bulley Dicks, of St. John's on the Island of Newfoundland, Sailmaker. First, I revoke and annul all former wills and testaments by me at any time made and declare this to be my last will and testament.

Second, I direct that my executors hereinafter named shall out of my general estate first pay all my just debts and Funeral and Testamentary expenses.

Third, I give, devise and bequeath to my two sisters, Anne Roper, widow of the late W. H. Roper, Master Mariner, deceased, and Jane Gushue, widow of the late George Gushue, Collector of the Customs, deceased, and to Mary Jane Dicks, widow of my brother, the late Robert Dicks, and my two brothers, John Dicks of St. John's, aforesaid Sailmaker, and Thomas Dicks of Providence, Rhode Island all my estate, right, title and interest in, to, and upon the Estate of the late John Dicks, Sailmaker, deceased; share and share alike in equal proportion as tenants in common.

I also give, devise and bequeath of the above named legatees, namely Ann Roper, Jane Gushue, Mary Jane Dicks, John Dicks and Thomas Dicks, all other Estate, property, moneys, credits and effects of whatsoever kind or nature and wheresoever situate of which I shall die possessed of, to which I may now or at any time may be entitled; share and share alike in equal proportions as tenants in common.

Fourth, I appoint my said two sisters Anne Roper and Jane Gushue to be the Executors of this my last will and testament, witness my hand at St. John's aforesaid this fifth day of October, A. D. eighteen hundred and ninety two; Joseph B. Dicks, signed, published and declared by the said Testator as his last will and testament, in the presence of us, who in his presence, and the presence of each other, both present at the same time and at his request have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses on the day and in the year above written. I certify the foregoing to be a correct copy of the last will and testament of Joseph B. Dicks Deceased.
