Will of Thomas Dewling
from Newfoundland will books volume 12 page 458 probate year 1923

In re
      THOMAS DEWLING.          DECEASED.

This is the last Will and Testament of me Thomas Dewling of St. John’s Newfoundland made this Thirtieth day of January in the year of Our Lord one thousand nine hundred and Eighteen.
      I hereby revoke all Wills made by me at any time heretofore. I appoint my wife Mrs Jemima Dewling of St. John’s and Mr George Mills of Old Perlican to be my Executors, and direct that all my debts and funeral expenses shall be paid as soon as conveniently may be after my decease.

      I give and bequeath unto my wife Mrs Jemima Dewling everything of which I die possessed, including my house situated No. 44 Williams Street St. John’s and all money to the credit of our joint account in the Bank of Montreal St. John’s and in the Nfld Savings Bank St. John’s.

      If after the death of my wife, there remains any property or money I bequeath the same to be divided into Eleven parts and distributed as follows:

  • Miss Sarah Dewling St. John’s Three parts
  • Mrs Susan Bursey St. John’s Three parts
  • Mr James Mills Old Perlican One part
  • Mr John Mills Old Perlican One part
  • Mr George Mills Old Perlican One part
  • Mrs Phoebe White St. John’s One part
  • Mrs Celia Adams Old Perlican One part.

If any of the seven named above should die before my wife the part, or parts, bequeathed to them shall be divided equally between those still living.    THOMAS DEWLING.

Signed by the said Testator in the presence of us, present at the same time, who at his request, in his presence, and in the presence of each other, have subscribed our names as witnesses.
